Umm…Okay how many of you know what they are? And those of you who do, could you please add a few to my collection? Okay, so I confess that right now I need them to sing at a wedding in family. Khair… anyone who knows them, please help add a few new ones to my collection. But, even after the wedding it will be okay, since I am collecting them for my personal pleasure, not merely to sing on this particular wedding.
uff! Koi aik bhi khuda ka banda nahi jissay ilm ho kay tappey cheez kya hain?
And it wasn't really a long while ago, when all the young girls actually used to sing them on the wedding. Well, at least in our area of Punjab anyways. Much to my own joy, and sadly to no one else's apart from that, I have actually succeeded in collecting at least one hundred and sixty plus of them. Quite an achievment, considering the fact that the younger generation is either not interested in them any longer. And those few who hesistantly contributed some, well they weren't really very good. More fit to be sung by Naseebo Lal, as I have always maintained! And that is saying something...the lady has taken the art of singing double meaning and lurid songs to unsurpassable heights.
The older generation have a very good excuse on hand, namely poor memory. But, I must say, some of the ones that they contributed are so good!. My target so far is collecting at least five hundred of them. okay, don't ask me what happens when the 500 land mark is achieved; since those are the kind of things I will think about later. Right now, it feels so sad to see the tradition dying slowly. At some points or others, new things come and replace the older traditions. But, in this case are the new trends worth it? Cheap, almost impossibly idiotic hindi film songs???
khair...the punjabi music of Pakistani movies is probably worse.

Waisay parat bajaney wali bhi khub rahi, raat ko ussi ko peet peet kay gaaney ga lou, aur subah ussi main mehmaanon ko khana day diya.
