Tapiaco and yams

i am tired of searching in google… but couldnt find/understand :frusty:
i want to know.. is tapiaco another name of yam? or its a different thing??

Re: Tapiaco and yams

According to wikipedia Tapioca - Wikipedia, tapioca (not tapiaco) is not yam (at least yam is not listed as an alternative name) and based on the characteristics defined, it doesnt seem to be yam either, though it looks like one.

Re: Tapiaco and yams

mods plz rectify the spelling :smack:

Re: Tapiaco and yams

Tapioca is made of Cassava root. Cassava, when dried to a starchy, powdery or pearly extract is called tapioca. I only had tapioca in pearl form in thai iced teas.
