PCB mulls legal action against pacer Sohail Tanvir
RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering a legal action against speedster Sohail Tanvir for addressing a press conference without prior permission of the PCB.
Tanvir addressed a news conference at his home here on Tuesday and spoke against the Indian government and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for not contacting him when he was stuck up in Mumbai on the eve of the terrorist attacks.
“He was not supposed to talk to media without prior permission of the board,” PCB director cricket operations Zakir Khan told Daily Times. Zakir said that no player was allowed to talk to media without the permission of relevant board officials and he would ask him that why he did so.
Meanwhile, a PCB spokesman said that Tanvir had made a clear violation of the code of conduct by speaking to media and the board would take action against this. “We will take action against him according to the rules specified in the central contract,” the spokesman added.
Re: Tanvir in hot water over talking to media without permission
Question: Is Rashid Latif still employed by the PCB? If yes, why didn't he contact the PCB first before issuing his statement a few days ago? If he is still an employee, that is.
Yes, PCB should take action against Sohail Tanvir. There are rules set in place, you cannot go around them.

Can't see how one can blame Tanveer over this violation.
For him and Kamran it was an abnormal situation, almost like on war footing.
The PConf was not significant to cricket activities either but reactions to the actions in mumbai while they were dodging bullets.

Hasn't PCB made clear when they hand out central contracts that players have to abide by certain guidelines? If Tanvir or whomever is in violation of his contract regardless, hasn't PCB been clear on this issue for a long time?
It is a silly rule. Why should you stop someone from talking?
Holding a press conference is everybody's right.
Let me call one rightnow.
Then you'll have to brunt the news conferences of Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan (and others) after every other game whining about other team members, umpiring etc.

may be you are right and it is everybody's right. However if a player has willingly signed a contract and terms of the contract prohibit the player from a certain activity then no matter how silly the rule sounds the bottom line is that it is a rule which the player agreed to follow.
Anyway, Sohail Tanvir has been involved in some other disciplinary issues in the past which didn't make the headlines. I have heard people saying that he is the new brat-in-the-making. If its true PCB needs to act soon.

Thats the whole point bhai. PCB made it clear YES but circumstances were not defined ! There is a loose end here. besides PCB won't be stypidly harsh on these fellows, if they did they muyst be idiotically faaarig deemagh. ;) CFI

so where is the problem. The problem is that there are things that these guys (players) should not do. However, it is every person's right to make a complete fool of himself. We should not make rules to prevent that. PCB should ignore these press conferences and statements given by players. No need to take strong notices. If a player really have problem, he will directly contact the officials, its as simple as that.

These silly rules just show, that we are a culture of lot of sensitivities, and we can only handle praises directed towards us. We are incapable of even pretending, that we did not hear, when somebody says something against us. We can sacrifice a very fine cricketor's career, to satisfy our ego.
