Tanhayaan, Un-Kahi and Dhoop Kinaare...

One of the greatest tv serials i have ever seen. Golden Era and highlight of Haseena Moin’s career and the characters were house hold names. Comedy was actually comedy. Too bad we dont see those kind of serials anymore.

Whats your favorite among these three?? I was never able to decide that.

teeno apni apni jagha par hayn its difficult to decide...

in dhoop kinare the evolution of marina khan's role was very nice...rahat kazmi annoys me in dhoop kinare tho...i cant believe she liked him uffff...him n badar khalil were better suited for each other...but sajid hassan was too cool in the drama... he kept the drama going...

in unkahi i really liked the way the relationship between shahnaz shaikh and javed shaikh was developed in the drama n the way it ended...superb...plus the lil kid jibran is too cute n the maamoo salim nasir is too funny

in tanhayan also the relationship between shahnaz sheikh n asif raza mir was developed well...i also liked the funky relationship between qazi wajid n badar khalil it was kinda amusing...not to mention the whole qabacha comedy part with marina khan n behroz sabzwari ...n the jamshed ansari n apa comedy parts...

Dhoop Kinare is actually my most favorite :k: Marina Khan and rahat Kazmi have both been my favs. But most of all the storyline is superb. Firstly, all of the scenes were written well and the actors did justice to both comedy and eriousness in the drama. Also, Sajid Hassan’s character was amazing. I’ve watched the drama two times and i m watching it for the 3rd time these days and i havent gotten bored of it yet.

I also like Tanhayan, but the only reason for that is the story of Zara, played by shehnaz sheikh, or actually Zara’s obsession. I think Haseena Moin did a superb job in writing Zara’s story and showing how getting material things in this world don’t bring back the poeple that we’ve lost.

Unkahi was a good drama. Javed Sheikh’s acting was great. And the Maoo was my most fav character in the drama. But somehow that drama hasnt impressed me that much.

But on the whole, all 3 drama serials are great works by Haseena Moin. I wonder why she cant come up with something like that now.

No doubt all 3 are superb dramas.

Also, Angaan Terha is a must watch and Uncle Urfi is quite good as well! :k:

Ditto:)

yep .. and the list goes on… AfshaaN, Khuda kee basti.. and and and

I felt the only low-point of Tanhaiyaan were the three episodes spent on Zara's hospital stay. It was important, but it just dragged on and on. Other than that, Tanhaiyaan was, perhaps the most polished of the three.

In Ankahi, the person whose role I enjoyed the most was neither Shahnaz Sheikh nor Jawed Sheikh... but that of the "mamu" (late Saleem Nasir). The irritating neighbor was also fun as were the roles of Behroz Sabzwaari and the other assorted characters.

In Dhoop Kinaray, the story was implausible (age difference between Kazmi and Khan), but it was carried off beautifully. Funnily enough, the hair styles of Marina and Badar were reversed completely between Tanhaiyaan and Dhoop Kinaray. It was perhaps the worst hairdo Marina could have used for a full 13-episode serial. Then again, the story and acting was superb and thus carried the play on its own.

In all these three plays of Haseena Moin (less so in Ankahi), the obsession of the lead characters with their respective houses was the primary focus. In some ways it shows how some people grow a stronger bond with bricks and mortar compared to humans.

Hard to decide ... all three were excelent.... there was one more, I think it was Saira Kazmi's I can't remmember the name now, but its title song was "Kabhi Hum Khoubsurat thai" ... N e one remmember the plays name?

when did he pass away? Unkahi was the most favourite from the three, i've watched thanhaian and Dhoop Kinare too many times, the doctor really irriates me, dr irfan's role was funny, the last episoide of unkahi was braodcasted yesterday :(

any1 have any update of what shehnaz is upto nowadays? the last i saw her was in meri pasand, is she married?

Zaib-un-nisa is another of my favourites, she's just sooo sweet.

is that the one with Bushra Ansari (jahan ara) and the guy who played sanah’s boss in unkahi? that was an excellent one aswell.

**Irem **I woud like to differ but Rahat Kaazmi was awesome in Dhoop kinaare, though his scenes with his baba were boring sometimes... Sajid Hasan was the funniest in it, i agree. His talking speed really was hillariuos.

**passio **I cant figure out why Un-Kahi didnt impress you much, it was initially my favorite among these three, For the sole reason of complex and powerful story line. and Mamoon well what can we say, he was great...

Anwaar Khuda ki Basti was great too but it was suited to those days more i feel, and these three are ever-green coz they encapsulated the so called modernism too.

**Faisal bhai **Yes Those hosptal scnese in Tanhyaan were dragged on and on and only highlight in them were 'qabacha's meeting with Shahnaz Shaikh. Dhoop kinaare had the most seriuos tone amongst them. But yes it was carried off beautifully. And in Tanhayaan, Qabacha and Marina's scenes were just awesome, you cannot call them over-acting of any kind, remember them by heart, and YET enjoy them fully everytime you see.

*Sadiyan * Yes Aangan Terha is one great play as wwell but slightly had a monotonous outlook to it. No doubt great comedy but it isnt Haseena Moin's, it was penned by anwar Maqsood.

saby: Sorry for going off track. If we’re just discussing Hasina Moin’s then in my opinion, Un Kahi is by far the best! :k:

Coolmunda_2000: Precisely.

oh no Sadiay. you can go off track, its perfectly fine.. There are no hard and fast rules, You can name any of classics that you rate highly.

Ditto.

However I do not recall watching Unkahi?! Hopefully I will shortly.

“No Passion No Life” eh? I tend to agree with that as well! They say, “One can never experience extreme happiness without having experienced extreme sadness”

I don't know ....it's Not easy to decide but Doop kinaray has always been a Love of mine because of Rahit kazmi :D

Umm well comedy wise the drama is awesome, just like any other Haseena Moin's drama. But the love stories in the drama didnt really make sense to me. Actually I havent ever seen the last episode of this drama. Its being aired on ptv prime these days and i m going to try and catch its last episode and then maybe give a better opinion on the drama. I know the ending of the timmy-mariam-moby love triangle and that just doesnt sit with me :-/....i felt bad for Timmy :'(

saaray hi buhat achay dramay hain:k:

i agree... those darmas are superb... and addin Agan tera + others.. as some people name it.. i watched uroosa and anch recently and i think they was pretty nice too... :biggthumb

agreed:) i was just going lil offtopic and mentioning my favorite dramas

oh by the way, Unkahi, i still remember that shair from unkahi :flower1:

Yeh khuaab hai, Khushboo hai, Jhonkaa hai kay pall hai:)
Yeh dhundh hai, Baadal hai, saayaa hai kay tum ho:flower1:

SS  MK

I think un-kahi had the wittiest dialogues, but all three are pure gems. Technically production has improved so much since then, but the contemporary plays all lack the quality of dialogue delivery, performance and ensemble characters of the 80s. I remember reading somewhere that Dhoop Kinare was actually written before Tanhayaan – no wonder it came out just 15 months after T. Also, when Haseena Moin met Marina Khan for the first time, she had her doubts that she could play Saniya. Anyway, I am pretty sure, Haseena Moin’s characters passed on their tea addiction on to me.

(that speech Qabacha made in the hospital – I was laughing for days!)
