tanba ya kundan

which one do ppl here prefer?

the jewelry trend these days is light, pretty and big…does not matter whether its pure gold or not, even tin coated with gold will do…even pure chandi ka zaivar is not worn, its way to expensive…u can just easily go out and buy cheaper and prettier jewelry with greater variety as well…

variety’s never really there in real jewelry…purani industry hai, they make everything ‘classic’ and barely ever experimetn…unless of course u r a fan of amin gulgi’s bhainkra works…

this is of course true for younger women, but even for women getting married in late 20s…jewelry is now worn really light …infact some brides even confess to wearing fake gold on thier wedding…lots of women say, jewelry ka faida kia if its too heavy and expensive to be worn without fear at functions…it also makes sense cuz jewelry prob is no longer the important jahez item anymore…guess its been repalced by education…:frowning:

plus jewlery items being worn are changing…u no longer have women wearing thick n bhari gehnas…these were like considered the ultimate guage of a woman’s richness…women also wore these full-time…kher, but now women re barely able to tolerate arm jewelry…one or two really thin bangels is all u’;; ever see, and it will almost always be colored read or green, never gold…

cheap rings and earings, are worn in plenty…the bigger the better…older women prefer small and really thin, without desgins, bare keychain-looking gold rings…a ring with a large design was considered slutty or in cheap taste…some women continue to think this way…now, i barely see the thin gold rings anymore…

in fact, larger heavy sliver jewelry is or was actually considered manly…huge gem rings u see on afhgani men, they were a no-no for women pehlai…u’d get really dirty looks from regular women if u wore those…now its really cool to wear them tho of course the slight size difference is still there…in the gems, not the size of ring, woh toa waisai bhi choti honi hain women ki…

payals…no shareef muslim woman could be seen wearing these earlier…the raqqasa tag was too strong…still is infact, i still dont wear them for one…but more n more women wear them now than they did earlier…they look really pretty as well. but anyhow…feet kaun daikhta hai, aurtoan hi kai siwa…

my own preference…i used to be a sucker for all the cheap stuff…still am, over asli chandi ki rings…but now i care less for those…i love white gold ki jewelry …its really exquisite and pretty…plus i love combined jewelry, not plain gold stuff…it shud almost always have nags in them..red or green preferably with black…

i doubt there is anyone out there who still likes heavy gold sets and gehnas?..or is there?

Re: tanba ya kundan

no, I hate gold with passion!!

Re: tanba ya kundan

Why so parashan at replacing education for jewelry as the hot jahez item? :(

I personally love nice big sets. The bigger the better. However, I prefer the newer ones, with the beads and colored stones....I'm not into the big huge pure gold sets. I alwyas used to look at the really big necklaces, u know the ones that come down to ur chest, and said I wantedone for my wedding and she said she had em but I never believed her (there were no wedding pix of my parents :( ) until she showed em. Now, I don't think ill be wearing it, i dunno...ammi is gonna put it on my sis in law at mybro's wedding....

also, in pakistan, if i tried to wear any gold jewelry, like a chain or teeny tiny kaantay or set, everyone jumped at me saying "kunwari larkiyan nahi paantee gold"....i just have two small bracelets on my right arm...here, if im goin somewhere ill wear some of my nice real stuff, like karas or necklaces or big earrings (tho i hardly go to any functions :( ) ..but for school, its simple gold hoops or one of my many pairs of dangly pretty earrins :D

Re: tanba ya kundan

hmmm i like anything pretty but usually i dont like yellow gold..if its like a bit darker or white then yea but other than, anything thats pretty...i dont like ristricting myself

Re: tanba ya kundan

I dont like the pure yellow gold sets, I think thats soo old fashion for me. All my stuff have stones and colors in them.

Re: tanba ya kundan

I like the big chunky beaded collared gold sets for brides. Think they look wicked but are a total waste of money.

I have a mixture of big and small sets and different kangan and churiyan...and i absolutely hate all my gold, it's stored away and i'm still into wearing artifical stuff. Gold is just plain naff.
