According to intelligence estimates there were anywhere
between 1,500 2,000 armed mercenaries inside Kashmir —
mostly Afghans and Pakistani’s — waiting to strike.
Consequently, the handful of local militants that remain are
feeling the pinch in terms of financial and material support
from the ISI and are antagonistic towards the foreigners,
whom they also fear.
The ISI has also declared that once a foreign militant
entered an area, he would automatically assume all
operational responsibility for all militant operations. This
has resulted in instances when disgruntled elements amongst
local militants have deliberately led the outsiders into
ambushes.
Disparity in militants allowances had also led to
resentment. Intelligence officials said a “foreign” militant
received around Rs 200,000 at least 10 times more than what
the local was paid. Should the former die in an encounter,
his family received insurance of around Rs 200,000-Rs
300,000 from the ISI. The family of his Kashmiri equivalent
got either a pittance or nothing. The ISI also paid a bonus
for killing soldiers, particularly officers and for
massacres that attracted international publicity.
Intelligence officials estimate Pakistan spends around Rs 2
crores a month or Rs 24 crores annually to sustain Kashmir’s
militancy. India’s daily expenditure on CI Ops in the
Valley, however, is around Rs 2 crores or around Rs 730
crores per year, some 30 times the amount expended by
Pakistan to execute its “death by a thousands cuts.”

India spends another Rs 3 crores a day maintaining troops at
Siachen (or Rs 1,095 crores annually ) while the daily bill
for manning 140 km of the LoC in the Kargil region is
estimated at around Rs 12-Rs 15 crores or between Rs 4,380
crores and Rs 5,475 crores. In short, the cost of defending
Kashmir is upwards of Rs 6,752 crores per year or around one
sixth of last year’s defence budget of Rs 45,694 crores. The

Pakistan spends Rs. 24 crore and India spends Rs 6,752 crores,
i.e. India spends 281 times more than Pakistan. Now who said
India is not bleeding ?

Yes we have muj fighting terrorist in uniform but the question remains who is killing innocent Kashmiris... One way to find out is to ask the Kashmiris via plebiscite, if they hate muj/bad pakis they will sure speak out...NO?....

^ofcourse these guys need a break. For them religion comes before their nation.. but then they would celebrate their creation too.. u know they like celebrating.
At the topic, do whatever you want, tamils all over the world will support LTTE if sinhalese majority do not give basic rights to the tamil people. If pakistan gets into it directly and India just watches by, whole tamil nadu will go in flames. Do not underestimate the tamilians. Rest of india will do good not to antogonise the tamilians.

Pakistan opens massive military supply to Lanka

NEW DELHI: Pakistan has opened a massive $250 million credit line for supplying Sri Lankan military equipment, including many offensive weapon systems such as tanks, say authoritative sources. The figure contradicts recent reports about Pakistan providing around $50 million military assistance to Lanka.

Indian sources insist that an eager Pakistan is stepping it up to $250 million, raising several new uncomfortable questions for India. The report comes at a time when India is worriedly looking at Pakistan planning to gift two of its old submarines to Bangladesh. With China too exhibiting interest in cultivating India’s neighbourhood, New Delhi has a much more complex region to deal with.

Sources said the surge in Pakistan’s military assistance to Sri Lanka has happened because of the personal interest taken by Pakistan High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Bashir Wali, a former director of Pakistan’s Intelligence Bureau.

Among the new items that Pakistan could supply through the $250 million credit line include 40 tanks, and many other offensive systems, sources said. Publicly known demand from Sri Lanka’s Army has only been for about $20 million worth from Pakistan.

The Sri Lanka Air Force has requirement worth $38.1 million, according to a recent report by London-based Jane’s Defence Weekly. The magazine also spoke of only about $60 million worth military assistance from Pakistan to Sri Lanka. The Army has asked for 10 Baktar Shikan anti-tank guided missile weapon systems, 300 standard/tandem warheads and two training simulators.

India has received requests for such assistance from Sri Lanka in the past. But fear of hurting Tamil sentiments and getting mangled in island nation’s fortunes has kept India away. India’s reluctance to assist the island nation has led to both China and Pakistan taking much more interest in the military affairs of the turbulent nation.

^^ Indians live in this self-generated paranoia that everyone has "designs" on them, and this report reaffirms that belief. Have they ever done a little introspection and actually thought deeply about about what they themselves are upto? Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, China, everyone of them is pissed at Bharhat. Just a coincidence, or some ISI tactic again?
