A cowardly attack is how the Tamil Tigers greet us on our independence day. Pakistan must now surely back Sri Lanka’s war on terror. The Pakistan Air Force has some serious firepower. It is now time we sent soldier and planes to Sri Lanka. We must support Pakistan’s friends against their enemies and our enemies. The Pakistan Airforce must cleanse and bathe Tamil Tiger positions with copious quantities of napalm and cluster bombs. Burn and blast the Tamil Tiger rats out. They deserve no mercy, no life. They are scum, fit only to be exterminated.

Pakistan’s ambassador to Sri Lanka, Bashir Wali Mohamed, was on his way to present credentials to President Mahinda Rajapakse when a Tamil Tiger bomb planted in a trishaw exploded killing four bodyguards and three civilians in Colombo.Scene at the bomb explosionScene at the bomb explosion
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said its top diplomat to Sri Lanka was the target but he escaped unharmed.
Dr. Palitha Kohona, head of the Peace Secretariat in Colombo, told BBC that this is the first time that a diplomat has been targeted by the LTTE in Colombo. He added that there was only one group in Sri Lanka which would do such a thing and that is the Tamil Tigers.
Defence officials said that the Pakistan ambassador could have been the only target because there were no other diplomats or VIPs in the vicinity.
A leading analyst told the Asian Tribune that the planting of the bomb and the timing of the explosion has been pre-planned to target the Pakistan high commissioner.
He said: "Tigers have a consistent record of targeting anyone who is seen as a threat to them. Rajiv Gandhi of India was the first victim of Tiger terrorism."Scene at the bomb explosionScene at the bomb explosion
He added: “Pakistan is a leading supplier of arms to Sri Lanka which threatens and undermines the military strength of the LTTE. It is apparent that the Tigers have shifted their focus from India to Pakistan. This act amounts to monumental stupidity on the part of Tigers. They have failed to learn the lesson of assassinating Rajiv Gandhi.”
Asked whether India’s unseen hand could be behind this act the analyst said: “It is most unlikely. It is unlikely that India intends to fight a proxy war against Pakistan through the Tigers. India burnt its fingers by allying itself with the Tigers to destabilize Sri Lanka earlier by arming, training and financing the Tamil terrorists. It is true that India has refused to supply arms to the Sri Lankan government now. But India cannot prevent Pakistan from supplying arms to Sri Lanka. This may rile India but India is not likely to risk aligning itself with the Tamil tiger terrorists once again.”
Tamil Tigers have been avoiding harming foreigners in recent times. The last time they committed such an act was when they kidnapped an American couple in 1985.
