dude, I am not talking "india' I am talking international. No indian actor in that era, before that era or after that era had such international fame until recently as some started acting in foriegn movies
Yes, thats right- but the concept of cheap labor applies here too. An Indian actor would charge 1/10th of what a hollywood actor would. I would saw promos of a new Hollywood movie in which Aishwarya has acted and she looks like a typical Indian women in that movie.

I never thought that bollywood had become so popular in west too. My white colleagues talk about bollywood movies and say that Indian women are pretty good looking.
As for cheap labour, I want to tell you that today many Indian professionals save much more in their Indian job than average canadians or average americans. In my Indian job, I used to save over $10,000 every year and had much higher quality of life than average Americans and this is true for many Indian professionals.

I dont know how popular it is, do people know it more yeah, but its not that popular. when we start seeing them as big hits in local cinemas and rentals then we can say yeah its so popular, right now, people have an awareness of it, which is an achievement in itself but awareness is not the same as popularity.

many is what, most, majority, a large number? its a pretty vague word.
yeah but you are comparing indian professionals to avg americans or canadians.
compare avg indians to avg canadians or americans
or
compare indian professionals to canadiana nd american professionals and a diff picture emerges
and its not just a question of savings rate, but amount.

Yeah it is popular- primarily because they dont see soo many colors in the movies and so many songs. But Indian professionals save money in rupees, right? $10,000 or 10,000 rupees??? because 10,000 is a lot money in Pakistan which has better economy than India's. Did you want to say 10,000 rupees by any chance? 10,000 dollars is impossible. If people save 10,000 dollars in India why we find so many sikh taxi drivers in America and England?
i like saif ali khan, im so loyal ive liked him for years and years, since he did that movie with the song "jab be mai koi larki dekhoon mera dil deewaana bholai holai holai" etc.
and its not cause of his height, but cause he reminds me of a jester. point proven, thanks.

Sikh drivers are not Indian professionals (in fact sikh population is mostly illiterate and Sikhs constitute only 2% of Indian population). Sikhs probably get sponsored by their relatives. I used to pay Rs. 15,000 every month just as income tax in my Indian job. Any way the sad fact is that there is a large disparity in India in terms of earning money. While large part of India is very poor, there is also a good chunk who make enormous money and live a lavish life style. While in the western world, wealth is uniformly distributed.
Just I want to give an insight of it. A Canadian Engineer makes on average $59000 per annum while a Canadian Technician makes $54000. I used to make about $19000 every year in my Indian job while our technicians used to make only $3000 which is almost one sixth. So this tell the large disparity in wealth distribution in India.
Amitabh was not the only bollywood super star. He is just the recent one. There were other bollywood super stars too. In fact, the popularity what Amitabh achieved in 15 years, was achieved in less than 5 years by Rajesh Khanna. Between 1970 and 1975, Rajesh Khanna was so much popular that whole India was completely mad after him and whatever he wore or whatever hair style he adopted became an instant fashion. Amitabh has never seen such popularity. And then between 1960 and 1970, Rajendra Kumar was another bollywood silver jublee star. And again before that it was the era of Dilip Kumar (Yusuf Khan). And today it's Shah Rukh Khan.
dont forget dev anand... some people say govt banned him to wear black suite in public cuz girls would go crazy :D

nice to know- atleast in Pakistan there's not much disparity- everyone's well fed. yaar $19000 is a good salary in Indian rupees. What were you doing? One question- do they allow muslims to do namaz in the companies? Do muslims choose to work under non-muslim bosses there? Indian muslims should start refusing to work under non-muslim bosses. On other note, Pakistnis' Islamic knowledge is coming in handy as there's a huge demand of khatibs and Islamic scholars abroad.

where do you work? whats the name of your boss?
just curious
most world class atheletes in the sports I mentioned are tall.
being tall does not meen they cant be quick..
and yo dont have to be a midget to be really good at digs, especially when you are playing 2X2 sand volleyball your reach is very important..
Height does matter sometime. Most of the athletes and armymen in Pakistan come from Punjab or sarhad- the reason is that people hailing from these provinces are extremely tall. Look at Wasim Akram/Sarfraz Nawaz and look at Saeed Anwar or Rashid Latif- zameen aasman ka fark hai dono mein
