How to your introduce the concept of death and islam to your kids?
Describe heaven and hell?
If someone passes away - how to you explain it?
At waht age would you take them to the jinnazah?

I was forced to introduce my kids to the concept when my dad was diagnosed with advanced cancer. They were so young - 5, 4 and 2. They saw how very sick he was, I kept the explanations very very simple. And they seemed to understand. They saw his decline, I explained to them that Grandpa was too sick for the doctors to make him better but that this sickness will not happen to them, that Grandpa was an elderly man who worked on airplanes and was around airplane fuel for years and years and caused him to get this really big sickness that the doctors couldnt fix. And when he passed, I explained that Grandpa is now in heaven, he's not sick anymore and even though we cant see him and visit with him, he watches over us and when he's happy, the sunshine comes out...and he will always live in our hearts, all we have to do is think of him.
Even at such a young age, they understood these things and three years on, they still tell me that Grandpa is happy when its a sunshiny day, they tell people that their Grandpa is in heaven.
I've not introduced the concept of hell to them...and the Islaamic teaching is up to my hubby who is much more well versed that I in that area....but I think no matter what the religion, the above explanations are all thats needed at really young ages.
