Talk to your kids about the “s” word

is it easy for you to discuss sex related topics with your kids??are you comfortable with it.ok i am confused ,what if one day a 6 yrs old kid comes to you and ask MAMA when a baby is coming do women puke, one of my friend told me that they do and plus they go to the washroom alot:smack: so what will you answer a kid ?

let me put it like this that You’ve just found out your son or daughter is getting sex education at public school and you want to give them the Islamic perspective on it.

Or your kids have started asking the “where do babies come from” question.

But you just can’t get over your tongue-tying embarrassment:bummer:

Re: Talk to your kids about the “s” word

My latest response has been, you'll find out when you're older sweetheart, don't worry about it or think about it because it's not important. She's OK with that usually.

^^
you have very simple kids niksik:mash: but every one is not like that.they need answers, and i think its better the answers should be provided by the parents.but just think why a kid tells another kid about that ..hell they are only 6 yrs old:aj: this shows that his mom must have openly disscused that infront of him .so here at fault are the parents ??

Re: Talk to your kids about the “s” word

Well my daughter does ask a lot of questions but luckily so far she hasn't been exposed to Disney Channel, Bollywood or anything beyond PBS Sprout. She's 6 but still watches Dragon Tales and Caillou. And it's fine with us. I've seen parents these days who cannot control their urges to talk on the phone with their kids arounds or watch movies and dramas with their kids sitting right there. Obviously kids will get interested in non-kids stuff sooner.

yea these are the causes i agree but the fact is how one can answers such questions:hmmm:

Re: Talk to your kids about the “s” word

There was a rather lively discussion about this very topic pretty recently...i took a quick look but couldnt find it. Anyway, when kids are determined to find answers, they generally do. My middle son, 1st grade has a classmate whose mom is expecting and all the kids in the class talk about it - biggest question being how does the baby get out of there. I gave my son the simple explanation that the mom goes to the hospital till the baby comes. He wasnt satisfied with the answer, kept on persuing it and eventually found out from his friend that the baby comes out of the mothers "ingina". ack.

If I had answered his question a little more completely, if I had satisfied his curiosity better then I dont think he would have sought and found the answer on the playground.

Re: Talk to your kids about the “s” word

Yes, like MO3 said, what we say to our children should be with so much confidence that they don’t need to seek information elsewhere. My daughter thinks that her dad and I know everything…more than anyone else. At least for now she does :bummer:. Which is fine with me…because right now, I want to limit her resources.
