InshAllah terrorists will not succeed in harming prime minister or his family. I hope, given the treat, govt does all it can to protect all leaders, including the leaders of political parties.

President, aides, Benazir’s mausoleum also to be attacked; Taliban angry over declaration of war by PM

ISLAMABAD: Extremely angered by the prime ministerís address to the nation on Thursday, the terrorists fighting security forces in Swat and adjoining areas have vowed to eliminate Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and his family, it was learnt on Friday.

ìWe thought that being a member of a religious family, Gilani will support our demand of implementing Shariah in the Malakand Division but instead he has announced all-out war against us, which has angered our commanders as well as fighters,î said a commander of the terrorists while talking to The News via telephone.

The militant commander, who wished anonymity, said that after the prime minister’s declaration to eliminate the Taliban, they had started planning to eliminate the top leaders of the ruling alliance, including the president, the prime minister and their close family members and aides. He said that hometown of Prime Minister Gilani, Multan, and tomb of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto might also be targeted.

ìBesides, the personnel and installations of security forces, we have now also included civilian rulers in our hit list. We will definitely need sometime to plan our actions but it is not impossible for us and we have all the means to implement our plan of attack anywhere in Pakistan,î he said.

The militant commander also confirmed that the chief of the outlawed terrorist group Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Baitullah Mehsud, was advising the Swat militants in their fight against security forces. He said that the TTP chief had now advised the Swat chapter of his organisation to plan attacks on civilian rulers.

This correspondent tried to contact Muslim Khan, the spokesman for TTP Swat chapter, but he could not be reached despite repeated attempts. When approached for comments, Ameer Izzat, spokesman for Tanzim Nifaz Shariat-e-Muhammadi (TNSM), said that they had nothing to do with the TTP as they had their own organisation, which believes in peaceful struggle for implementation of Shariah.

About the latest threat by militants to target the civilian leadership of the country, the TNSM spokesman said he could not comment on the matter except for saying that those fighting security forces could do so.

Asked why the TNSM was not renouncing the militancy publicly, the TNSM spokesman said that the government had already left them in a lurch and they could not afford the enmity of the Taliban by publicly renouncing militancy and fighting.

Like I had said before, even the TNSM, as loony as they are, is held hostage by talib brutality.

Re: Taliban vow to eliminate PM, family members

^^^ very true. It took ANP long time to realize that old man Sufi M can't keep his words b/c Taliban wont listen to him & at the end decided go for military operation. Whats sad is that many of the terrorists were released by the govt under the peace deal that are now fighting against our forces in Swat.

Re: Taliban vow to eliminate PM, family members

i donot think **all **these attacks are managed by Taliban for all their name is used too often. I highly doubt musharraf was as readily targetted by taliban, there are many agencies working in pakistan, CIA, RAW whatnot, to keep the phobia alive. Happened similarily in Zia's time with Russian service Khad.

Re: Taliban vow to eliminate PM, family members

^^^ there are people who would never believed that Taliban could do such things even when Taliban accept responsibility & are seen on video slaughtering soldiers. If seeing is not believing to you than I'm afraid nothing will convince people like u...

Re: Taliban vow to eliminate PM, family members

^not really i am saying Taliban cannot be in so many places at the same time. One has to be naive to buy everything that is attributed to them. It is an old way and it works wonder, similar in any country that was facing the problems that pakistan is facing right now. You have to understand there are many terrorist supported, financed by sources that wish to see this problem to presist to pressurise the administration. it happens all too often in the world to say it paranoia.

probably the same thing that allows us to forget that we carry out these missions at expense of human life.

Or just be an average GS pakistani who found out Taliban existed after he heard about them in Bush's speeches.

Same people who chase after WMDs in Iraq. Thats how naive some people on this board are.

Re: Taliban vow to eliminate PM, family members

Now you're saying taliban do not exist? How foolish do you take people to be?

Your arguments are getting stale. Talking with the taliban does not work as proven dozens of times.

Re: Taliban vow to eliminate PM, family members

Re: Taliban vow to eliminate PM, family members

The threat should be taken seriously. Afterall, they did eliminate BB successfully. Shaukat Aziz, Sherpao, Asfandyar and Musharaf had narrow and lucky escapes.

Is that what you understood out of what I said? or should I give you english lessons?

Seriously c'mon, be mature, how much are you going to monkey around.

Pak army is fighting a phantom enemy.

Not only that, but their bombardment will only create more trouble for them in the future.

They won't succeed, and you and I, all know that. I dont understand why we're all in denial.

its better to take an alternative approach which has some izzat left in it.

You compared taliban to Iraqi WMDs which don't exist. My comprehension is not the problem, your point is.

And it's not a phantom enemy. It's a very real enemy that wants to take over pakistan. I don't like the army tactics either, they not well planned, but compared to doing nothing and surrendering rest of pakistan, it's something.

What izzat do you find in surrender?

Re: Taliban vow to eliminate PM, family members

Finally!!!!

now plz spare innocent pakis who have nothing to do with any thing.

Before then can get to PM and his family, they need to sharpen their swords at the neck of many many pakistanis.

so we have figured out who killed Bhutto, eh? should make news. Sherpao just recently called the current operation an attack on pakhtoons and is threatenign if it isn’t halted then circumstances would be dire, i think he is not taking it seriously himself.

Unfortunately, the militants in Pakistan are not CIA/RAW employees of their own country, rather people from Afghanistan/Pakistan whether we accept it or not.

What is the number of Taliban in your opinion? Is it a few tens, hundreds or thousands?

Are you saying that even Pakistani journalists learn about Taliban’s existence from Bush speeches?

More than likely Sherpao is scoring a political point here, he is from PPP. What good did PPP-Sherpao do for people fleeing from the affected areas? Its all talk, hot-air, nothing more than that.

Re: Taliban vow to eliminate PM, family members

unfortunately we donot know who is behind every attack ehtasab. some of them are claimed and proven to be taliban but some of them arent. in those anonymous attacks they remain a suspect. i think pakistan went through a very similar thing in Zia's time and in many of terrorist acts Khad was found guilty. If this equates to saying taliban sicide attacks are non existant , it shouldnt .it merely means all problems arent due to taliban, we had blasting long before they came into being.

what is the number of taliban? truly how could i claim to know but i donot think every afghan refugee should be treated as a suspect. our govt doesnt seem to know for that matter.

I am saying Sherpao is not a politician but his own comment about the situation puts things into perspective.
