Pak, Afghan Taliban threaten to attack video centers in Pakistan

Islamabad, Sept. 15: The Pakistani and Afghan Taliban on Friday warned the Pakistani authorities to close down video shops in Pakistan’s tribal areas otherwise they would attack these private shops.

Local journalists reported that some two thousand armed Afghan and Pakistani Taliban gathered at a meeting in Miranshah, the headquarters of North Waziristan tribal agency. These Taliban alleged that the video shops were promoting vulgarity and obscenity in the area.

Taliban have banned the use of television and VCR in areas of Afghanistan under their control. The report said Taliban from the border Afghan provinces of Paktiya and Khost had attended the Miranshah meeting, by illegally crossing over the border.
