Militants flee Dabori area as tribesmen raise Lashkar
KALAYA: Militants started moving to safer places from Dabori area after a grand Jirga of local tribesmen on Sunday formed a Lashkar comprising 500 volunteers to destroy their hideouts and resolved to purge the area of miscreants.
Sources said elders of five local tribes, including Bizotkhel, Mishtikhel, Ferozkhel, Sheikhan and Uthmankhel, convened the Jirga. During the Jirga, a Lashkar was raised to go after the militants, who had put the peace of the area at stake.
The Jirga decided that the armed Lashkar would patrol the area from Oblal to Sambaga, a total of approximately 40 square kilometres. The elders of the Jirga also promised to arrange vehicles and weapons for the tribal force to patrol the area.
Sources said the Mishtikhel and Sheikhan tribesmen also formed a separate Lashkar of 250 people to protect their people against the militants. It was also reported that the four suicide bombers captured by the local Lashkar two days ago were handed over to the political administration while the fate of 16 other militants, held by the Lashkar, would be decided in the next session of the Jirga.
Meanwhile, local Ulema in the Ferozkhel area also announced their support to the Lashkar in its bid to purge the area of the militants. Separately, six Taliban were seriously injured when locals started hurling stones on their two vehicles while they were passing through the Baghnak area of Dabori.
A local spokesman for the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in the area Islam Gul told reporters that they had left Dabori to avoid violence. Hakeemullah, a TTP commander, was leading the Taliban in the area.
