(Reuters) - Afghanistan-based Taliban leader Maulvi Fazlullah, a leading figure in the insurgency, has vowed to return to Pakistan to wage war as the country came under renewed American pressure to tackle militancy.

“We sacrificed our lives, left our homes and villages for the sake of Sharia (Islamic Law) and will do whatever we can to get Sharia implemented in the Malakand region and rest of Pakistan,” Sirajuddin Ahmad, a close adviser, told Reuters, describing Fazlullah’s position.

He was answering written questions submitted by Reuters.

The Taliban threat was issued as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and top U.S. military and intelligence leaders delivered a tough warning to Pakistan to crack down hard on militant groups, an issue heavily straining ties between the uneasy allies.

Fazlullah was the Pakistani Taliban leader in Swat Valley, about 100 miles northwest of Islamabad, before a 2009 army offensive forced him to flee.

Also known as FM Mullah for his fiery radio broadcasts, he regrouped in Afghanistan and established strongholds, and poses a threat to Pakistan once again, said army spokesman Major-General Athar Abbas.

The Pakistani Taliban, which is separate from but aligned to the Afghan Taliban fighting foreign forces in Afghanistan, has declared war on the Pakistani state for providing support to the U.S.-led war on militants in the region.

Pakistan recently complained that Afghan and U.S.-led forces had failed to hunt down Fazlullah who was responsible for a spate of cross-border raids.

On the other hand, Afghanistan and the United States have accused elements in the Pakistan government of supporting members of the Afghan Taliban.

The attacks in which militants loyal to Fazlullah took part killed about 100 members of Pakistan’s security forces, angering the army which faces threats from multiple militant groups.

Fazlullah, a leading figure in the Pakistani Taliban insurgency, is based in Kunar and Nuristan provinces in Afghanistan, said Abbas.

Other leaders of the Pakistani Taliban, an umbrella of about 12 groups, and the government have suggested they are open to peace talks to end a conflict that has killed thousands of people.

But Fazlullah seemed sceptical about the government’s intentions.

“Pakistani rulers always approach us through some people whenever their relations with the United States become unfriendly and make appeals to us to help them in restoration of peace in the country,” said his adviser.

“But they forget their promises and become more harsh and cruel when their relations are restored with the United States. We know these tricks of the Pakistani rulers and do not trust in their promises.”

such animals should be killed without trial as he has decleared war against his own country ,no mercy should be shown for they are all dangerous for regional peace.

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

Don’t worry some creatures will crop up to defend his intentions as “in-line with Islam” :smack:

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

Ah, a new grad from one of the US institutions..but a good terrorist is a good terrorist just like a good talib is a good talib and good terrorist/talib is a mujahdeen.

Note: Mujahdeen is a copy right of Shri Ronald Regan.. May all bless his soul. :)

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

The ruthless murderer and leader responsible for terrorizing the innocent people of Swat issues another warning to the Pakistani government. Is it not in his evil nature to attempt to uproot freedom from Pakistan and to bring despair to those who would otherwise reside in peace? The Taliban terrorist mission inside Pakistan could easily be held responsible for thousands of killings. They have brought death, fear and panic to many and destroyed families by killing brothers, sisters and children. Do not the suicide bombings, no longer the exception but now the rule, signal that the time to take action is now? When a known terrorist issues a stern warning, is not the time for action now? The US and NATO forces are fighting the same enemy with the same evil agenda across the border. When Pakistani authorities aggressively counter the same threat, the Taliban will have nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. Our wish and desire is to have a region free of terrorist atrocities. Our statements are often taken out of context, and the real meaning is twisted and turned, but the end goal envisions a region free of terrorism. Our nations have made and will continue to make sacrifices to achieve our common interests in the war on terror.

^^ Irony is he is issuing these warning sitting in the lap of USA...

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

Very interesting, following quote from FM Mullah. Still it is sad to see some people blaming outside forces for Pakistan's problems. Shouldn't govt Pakistan handle its own foreign affairs instead of seeking help of terrorists?*

But Fazlullah seemed sceptical about the government's intentions.

"Pakistani rulers always approach us through some people whenever their relations with the United States become unfriendly and make appeals to us to help them in restoration of peace in the country," said his adviser.

"But they forget their promises and become more harsh and cruel when their relations are restored with the United States. We know these tricks of the Pakistani rulers and do not trust in their promises."*

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

Saying “some” would be calling it a massive understatement

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

why always blame others ?
instead of speculating about outside funding training and support, ask your army to crush him.he is citizen of pakistan clean your house first from terrorists then blame others .

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

He is sitting in Afghanistan

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

Do ya suppose his whole problem stems from being called Fazool-lulla as a boy?

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

Why can't a suicide bomber be sent to kill this dog. Or offer a reward on his head.

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

find him and kill him with help of i.s.i., round up his supporters in pakistan.

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

Because that is what US always does, we have same rights considering they vacate adjacent areas in Afghanistan when we attack these criminals on Pakistan's side.

Re: Taliban leader Fazlullah vows new war in Pakistan

I find it ironic that CENTCOM is responding to this when ISAF pulling out of Nuristan and Kunar gave the TTP the breating room to regroup and attack across the border.
