KANDAHAR: Suspected Taliban militants ambushed and killed five Afghans working on a United States-funded project to end opium farming on Wednesday, said senior provincial official Ghulam Muhiddin.

Don’t the Americans believe they are a superpower? Then, how come they still haven’t won a war aganist the defenceless Afghanistan more than 3 years later?

Damn that was an odd comment you made. The only presence the US had at the site where these innocents were killed was in funding. All the Americans were doing was giving money to help these defenceless Afghans prevent warlords and the Taliban from poisoning their Muslim brothers with opium. But these righteous Taliban-types killed them. Not the Americans. Notice the part you underlined says they "ambushed and killed five Afghans". Why do you take pride in that? These cowards weren't even man enough to face those they intended to kill, they ambushed them and ran away. A real accomplishment there. Congratulations.

^ I'm not here to judge anyone, only highlighting the suffering of the Afghan people which only started once the Americans got there. (This is something the Americans don't want to talk about).
(p.s. pium was banned under the Taliban, svere punishments were surved to those who produced opium. Opium surfaced again as soon as the Americans liberated the opium farms).

The near starvation millions, didn't upset the US when the bombing campaign started even though the red cross said the bombing would hinder the aid effort, untold thousands died as a result.
Pariah status, really what about the delegation of Taliban in Houston unocal, karzai, pipe deal ring bells as late as 2000?

That’s an awfully weak withdrawl. Anyway, what good is it to highlight things if judgements aren’t made? Surely there must be a point to highlighting something, otherwise are we to think that people just say things without meaning? Isn’t that the definition of nonsense?
The Americans have their faults. But to say they are worse than the Taliban is ridiculous.
The Afghan people have suffered from many things, long before the Americans ever became involved. You mention that the Taliban gave severe punishment for those involved in opium trade. What you neglect is that they gave that punishment selectively (mainly to their opponents, while members of the Taliban themselves profitted from the trade) and, even more damning, they gave punishment, torture and abuse on so many other false charges just to maintain a state of fear and control. The result of that, I would condsider suffering.
