Talha's Top 50 All-Time Films

it’s not like that - you can offer your opinions anytime you want - i’ll be doing more list later on… it’s just that sometimes you have to agree with others’ principles. :flower1:

Re: Talha's Top 50 All-Time Films

i can respect your opinion, but i dont think i was in violation of disrespecting your principles by having an opinion about your choice of movies.

and correct me if im wrong, but a lot of people here have voiced their opinions abt ur list too, not just me.

anyway...its just a list love, im sorry if iv been rude in any way

could be because of my age - i don’t think anyone is 19 around here lol

1. Malcolm X (1992)

[thumb=H]X18751_4612585.JPG[/thumb]

Director: Spike Lee

Genre: Drama
Cast: Denzel Washington, Spike Lee, Al Freeman Jr., Delroy Lindo, Albert Hall
Box Office: More than $ 19 million in rentals (USA)
Random fact: Spike Lee urged kids to cut school to see his movie, believing that "X" provides just as much (or more) education.
Cool quotes:-

*Malcolm X: The only thing I like integrated is my coffee.

Malcolm X: We didn't land on Plymouth Rock. Plymouth Rock landed on us!

Malcolm X: If we are extremists we're not ashamed of it. In fact, the conditions that our people suffer are extreme and an extreme illness cannot be cured with a moderate medicine

Malcolm X: It is a time for martyrs now, and if I am to be one, it will be for the cause of brotherhood. That's the only thing that can save this country

Malcolm X: I want Dr. King to know that I didn't come to Selma to make his job difficult. I really did come thinking I could make it easier. If the white people realize what the alternative is, perhaps they will be more willing to hear Dr. King*

Denzel Washington became Malcom X -- he does his most intricate acting here portraying Malcolm in his greatest and desperate hours of his life -- and his performance is nothing short of brilliant -- The movie showed his personality, the struggles that he endured, the changes that he went through in his life and the historical aspects that where involved -- it was culturally and historically accurate -- and it got into the heart of this man, showed the strong character of a man that continued to change his life -- the life of other Americans, and foreigners for the better

Spike Lee brought Malcom to life with his amazing cinematography -- it is Spike Lee's crowning acheivement as a director. You can't research Black History without reading the book and watching this movie -- Unlike so many movies that were once books, this one did not disappoint -- This gives one of the most complete biographies that i have ever seen -- Spike Lee did Alex Haley and Malcolm X much justice!!!!! This movie is a must see for everyone who has ever heard of the civil rights struggle and have ever wondered about the Nation of Islam.

*Up next: another list? I'd assume so, though I haven't planned it out at all. Maybe a bunch of mini lists, with favorite characters, sports personalities, songs, series, that sort of thing. But the list wouldn't be top 50.

We shall see ...*

Re: Talha’s Top 50 All-Time Films

Chalo ji, kahani finally khatam hui.

 for Talha for investing so much time and care in putting up summaries for the movies HE likes. Great job, dude :k:

Can’t say I agree with all the choices, but yeah, this is your list. Good luck!

Re: Talha's Top 50 All-Time Films

sure, now blame it on the age, for a 19 year old GUY, you sure have too many chick flicks on your list.

And you just made a mockery of this whole thread by not featuring Godfather. Wow! I know what happened in here, you made the most unusual choice no one ever expected for the top spot, you played against ppl's expectations.. (sorry, too many psych classes).

Thanks for the list, kept me coming back.

Re: Talha’s Top 50 All-Time Films

Nice effort Talha

Looking forward to your next list..and this time take your time and plan it out…I’m sure you can do better.

Too bad they didn’t give Denzel an Oscar on Malcolm X. I don’t change the channel when I see movies like Malcolm X, The usual suspects, Shawshank redemption, Pulp fuction, The training day, Dumb and dumber, Saving private Ryan…these are the kind of movies one should own. I think you covered most of 'em..good job :k:

Re: Talha’s Top 50 All-Time Films

exactly what i want to say .. even tho my fav movies are missing which i think weren’t bad too .. they mad big $ on box office but again its his list .. very nicely done .. :k: ..

Re: Talha’s Top 50 All-Time Films

*It’s his choice of movies. If he doesn’t like Godfather, how is it a mockery of this thread? I admit your list was quite good and my proposed list would include many of the movies you mentioned, but this is Talha’s thread. I certainly commend his effort. *

Re: Talha's Top 50 All-Time Films

Talha, I think your next project should be the worst 50 movies of all time. What do you think?

Re: Talha's Top 50 All-Time Films

Malcolm X was Denzel's finest performance ever. Its hard to disagree on that being your top pick, still you should have had Scarface in there somewhere. Go rent it and watch it and lissen to Tony Montana's quote above :P

Re: Talha’s Top 50 All-Time Films

  • “I kill a communist for fun, but for a green card, I gonna carve him up real nice.”

"The only thing in this world that gives orders... is balls. "

"I always tell the truth. Even when I lie. "

:rotfl: . Scarface is like a group of "best movie quotes ever". I'm also surprised at it not being in the list. Tony Montana going apesh*t = money!*

should i stop going out with chicks then?

Godfather has been everyone’s favorite - frankly i was bored to death so it never made the cut on my list..

i don’t even know my top 5 worst films - let alone 50 :stuck_out_tongue:

my interest in the film is based on first 30 of the film(yeah judging the book by its cover applies on me) but you see i don’t like to waste my time on it - if i know the plot - i basically let myself loose outta theater or eject the VHS/DVD.

my next project is most likely will be counting down sports personalities of my 19 years of living.. sportswo(man) that i witnessed play and being their fan…it will be interesting…you’ll see.
