Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

Hey ladies! This Is my first post! I’ve been trolling around here for a while and I finally convinced myself to actually contribute! lol.

Anyways, there has been something that has been erking me for a while.. Recently I came across a picture of Maheen Ghani Taseer in a makeup artist’s “clients” album. Something just didn’t feel right. I heard Ather Shehzad actually did her makeup (don’t kill me If I’m wrong!) For starters this makeup artist is a relatively new (been around for four years) local Connecticut girl who hasn’t really traveled outside of Connecticut and does not have much exposure out of the state. Her clients are friends or friends of friends… I know she claims that she is the first “designer house and luxury brand” of Connecticut..UHM that is a topic for another day. Anyways, I personally think her makeup isn’t impressive and her style isn’t anything that would impress a girl back home, since she seems to give that typical American/desi bridal look to almost every bride. On top of that she hasn’t tagged Maheen in the picture as she has done to most of her other clients…Even Maheen’s makeup is SO BLATANTLY DIFFERENT from the rest of her work. It incorporates SUPERB blending and contouring that Sonia C. (The makeup artist) can’t seem to deliver on any other bride. On top of that I remember seeing the exact same picture on this forum without Sonia C’s watermark on it…and I am pretty sure that picture was posted before Sonia C posted her’s..hmmmmmm
Go have a look for yourself!

What do you girls really think?! Did Sonia C. really do the makeup?! Does anyone know who really did her makeup?!
I’m not bashing the girl so don’t take this as a “hater post”. I’m just angered that someone would have the audacity to take some else’s work and pass it as their own!! A professional should know better than that! I don’t think the work is hers!

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

I know Maheen personally. Sonia did not.

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

Her sister did her mayon/mehndi. Whoever did the rest it definitely was not a girl from connecticut

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

So I was right! I knew there would be someone on here who would deff know for sure! Well its good to find out just how professional Sonia C is -____-

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

Her barat and walima makeup was done by Madeeha's. If you go to the parlor and check her latest photoshoot album, you'll see maheen's pictures.

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

yeah thats extremely lame.

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

Its sad to be honest. She is literally the only Desi in the whole state that does "desi bridal" makeup, and THIS is her work ethic.

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

Wow. Just wow.

The poor woman's father-in-law was brutally gunned down by his own bodyguard in the name of Islam. Her husband was kidnapped by the Taleban 8 months later, and has been missing for over 3 months...no one knows if he's still even alive at this point.

And you're irked by someone falsely claiming credit for her wedding makeup on Facebook?

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

dat IS sad, someone will tell her that that's NOT her work and she will ONLY LOOSE customers

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

I truly do feel bad for her :( But I think you took me the wrong way. This thread is about wedding makeup, and a makeup artist falsely claiming something is their' s. There is nothing wrong with calling that out. And I don't know how bringing up her terrible circumstances would contribute to the topic of taking someone's work and blatantly passing it as your own or why it would be relvant. This thread is simply about something unethical that a makeup artist did, and the picture just happens to be that of Maheen Taseer's. The picture could have been of someone else and I would have still started this thread, because the point here is about stealing someone's work. And I am not just erked about what happened to her family, I am deeply SADDENED and ANGERED about it, but i don't think the expression of those feelings would belong in the wedding forum.

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

Agreed. I , for one, do not doubt your intentions for opening this thread.

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

Same here..

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

It's no big deal, please don't take it personally.

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

Sonia C is one of the most PROFESSIONAL Make-up artists on the entire East Coast! The person who started this thread is just a very mean person..

I had my bridal makeup done by Sonia C and it was amazing.. She really knows the art. She ia a PROFESIONAL makeup artist for well-known brands in the cosmetic industry and wouldnt do something as stupid as what the above person is saying.. She is just out to get her because Sonia C cancelled on her and REFUNDED her money! YES REFUNDED her money. There is nothing wrong in doind that, it's very PROFESSIONAL. And I know this only because this person has posted similar threads about her big day disaster on MANY other websites.. Comeon it's been months since your marriage so give it a a rest and dont slander a fellow Asian Entrpreneur..

I have reccommended Sonia C to many other brides and they have all been very satisfied... They were very pleased with teh way she sets up consults and trials.. Makes any changes you request even at the last minute...

And as far as the her design house, if you had REALLY done your homework she has made many peices for young ladies in CT.. And if you look at her portfolio you will see that her models are REAL models, one of them who shoots with Tommy Hilfiger! YES TOMMY HILFIGER!!

SONIA C is REAL and so do your homework before you listen to other people....

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

LOL at Sonia C. trolling GupShup and praising her own work. A post count of 4 and all of them are about how amazing Sonia C. is. Riiighhhhttt.

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

I did not start this thread and have no information about her passing another's work off as her own. I never accused her of doing so. I had a bad experience interacting with her so I posted about it on this forum and only ONE other website. If you look through these forums she has many good reviews (which is why I originally chose her) and she has some bad reviews. Even Bunto Kazmi has negative reviews on this forum. It's part of the business.

This thread was started in December and hasn't been posted in since. Resurrecting old threads will just bring attention to them so I'm not sure why you are doing that. She has a lot of clients and apparently a lot have had good experiences with her so it's pointless to fight every negative review.

For the record, I did say that she refunded my money--I never hid that fact. Also, this wasn't my "big day disaster" as you say. My big day was alhamdulillah great, even with the few hitches along the way.

I am going to ask the moderators to delete my other thread. I stand by my review but having my name posted there and being accused of starting this thread is just lame. It's not worth the drama. After thinking about this more, it is any customer's right to post a negative review as long as they are truthful about their side of the story. Perhaps Islamically it is better to avoid doing so or maybe not say who the vendor is, so another reason I'm going to ask them to delete the other thread.

Again, I did not start this particular thread. If you have an issue, take it up with the original poster.

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

I'm in no way affiliated with either party nor do I reside anywhere near the makeup artist so I haven't dealt with her personally. However, my friend is getting married and I was just looking around on fb at different artists' albums to get an idea of what kind of makeup she wanted and I definitely 100% recall the Taseer bride's image in Sonia C's album. I was kind of confused because I knew that they had gotten married in Pak and were big shot people who probably would've gotten some big name MUA. In fact, some of the comments on the picture WERE along the lines of "wow you did her makeup".

i just wanted to point out the OP was correct and interesting that the picture/group has now been removed...

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

After seeing her work AND her attitude on here, everything about this vendor is just ugly!

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

I don't even have any knowledge of the person that's being claimed in this thread to have been in on any of my websites or advertising. Great story though in trying to make my business look bad! Whomever the lovely person is who I apparently didn't do the makeup for, I feel so bad for her. And I feel even worse for the person who is probably a competitor in my area, creating false stories about my work online. Lol. I'm a little flattered too that you went t this extreme! Good job

Re: Taking someone else's work and passing it as her own work?!

so are you xhennax?

thats what I really want you to admit lol.

I'm surprised you'd go to this extreme to defend yourself. Typically, designers/makeup artists dont become so defensive because they're CONFIDENT about their work.

Apparently, you're not.
