so I don’t know wt to do now. .is this really how it is suppose to b. can they give 10 days off , ? I know there r school rules but withdrawing?
Re: Taking off your child fm school for 10 days
Well if your child is attending state funded prek program, then state is paying his tuition and state doesn't want him to take 10 days off unless it was an emergency. For most state funded programs, if you are out for 10 days, they automatically withdraw the child, unless you have an emergency, doctors note, something along those lines.
So you either cancel your vacation or withdraw your if you are not going to take the program seriously.
I am assuming you are in states.
Re: Taking off your child fm school for 10 days
reduce the no of days acceptable to school
or don't go at all.....your kids school should be more important
Re: Taking off your child fm school for 10 days
If your child attends a publicly funded school in the U.S., then yes, an absence of 10 consecutive days that is not excused for a medical reason/with a doctors note, means withdrawal. In most cases, if you let the principal know ahead of time, they will will excuse the absences. On the flip side, once you get back, it's not a problem to re enroll in a public school. If it's a charter school though, that's a different situation. Most charter schools run on the lottery system with wait lists a mile long, so most likely there is someone waiting to take you place. And Lusi is right, the schools get paid based on attendance, so your child missing 10 days is a big deal. I used to work in the office of a public school and that was one of the most frowned upon things..the 2 week trips outside of vacation times.

Yes I understand that I should take his school seriously. But we took it a little linnet since it's prek 3 ... But I think we did a mistake n booked the tickets..
Khatti I think it's a charter school. And he went inn through lottery system.. So even if it's in the mid if the year ,someone else will take his place?

yes, especially for KIPP, which is an excellent charter school. If there is a wait list, I'm fairly certain his spot will be given away if he is withdrawn. Talk to your attendance clerk and principal and make sure you fully understand what will happen if he is withdrawn. Request a meeting with the principal and explain that this being your first experience with schools, you weren't aware of the attendance laws and had this vacation booked prior to school even starting, and is there anyway that his spot can be saved.
