Taking money for teaching Qur'an?

For the muslims:

Is it appropriate to take money for teaching the Qur’an? Like lets say someone doesnt know arabic and you want to teach Qur’anic arabic, should you take a wage for it? Please provide support for your views. Thanks.

It is allowed and no harm in it . :)

i think its f9 if u do take money for teaching quran-e-paak to other fellow muslims, it is possible dat this could be the only source of income for some hafiz-e-quran as they mite not have any other source of income and to survive in most cases money is needed.

let me check out the hadith and come back with it later....
but as for now, lets suffice with this that it is not allowed for people to charge fees for teaching Quran....

teaching Quranic arabic is a different thing and teaching Quran a different one....

dont consider it as a payment for teaching quran, consider it as a token of appreciation for their kindness.

people who teach kids quraan need a source of income too. The gentleman who taught us would not have been able to send his kids to school had he not supplemented his income as an Imaam by teaching.

hmm well I think taking money is not good but if some1 dont have any earning but he can teach Quran thn their is no harm in talking money

Well lets say this is not the only source of income a person has, as it would be done in evenings or weekends.

Secondly, armughal, what is the difference you are talking about? Thanks.

Munni taking money for teaching Holy Quran is not bad or haram. Maulana does not take money for teaching Holy Quran. He just charge money for his time. Coz Muala is Scholar and he know depth of Islamic rules. He spend time to learn it and after spending a lot of time. He is able to teach Holy Quran and other probs of religon.

Maulana just learn about Islam not ( MBBS, Engr, Accountant etc. ). I think if a Maulana charge fee for teaching Holy Quran. It is not bad. Coz Maulana is alos human being. He has financial probs like other persons. If he is spreading the light of Islam in our children and us. That is a good thing. He should charge the money for his time.

Thanx

Prince, lets assume the person is not a maulana, but rather a regular person who works a regular job but knows arabic very well and can teach it. Does it make a difference then?
