Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

Recently I was talking to a rishta waley and she basically told me that I’m screwed because I am a single mother. Even divorced men with kids prefer unmarried women (go figure), but will settle with divorced women who have no kids. So in an effort to woo potential rishtas (don’t worry never married folk, I’m only interested in the divorcees) I’m getting brand new photos taken. So guys, what do you prefer seeing women wearing in their rishta pics.

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

Why ask the men? Wear what you want to wear.

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

Because I am beyond the whole "he needs to accept me for how I am and that's it". I need to get him through the door first.

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

It's only a question to guys.. Does that mean I can't answer :(

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

I'm all ears

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

naturally, i'd tell you to wear what makes you look good. Also depends on where you are living... pak vs us... etc. Have you tried any rishta websites?

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

US and all of them

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

Wear what makes you look good and presentable, something that you would wear at a family gathering. Try to appear natural, happy and casual in your pictures... not one of those passport pictures.

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

I don't think most guys would decide on what the girls wear.

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

Why don't you do pics with western and desi clothes so you have a bit of a mix

Obviously make sure you feel comfortable in whatever you're wearing as well and it's reflective of you as a person..

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

And you're not screwed at all.. Every single person I know who was divorced and wanted to remarry did.. and ended up happy..

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

pajamaas...

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

Wear what you would wear to a family gathering...decent, casual and comfortable.

Trendy is good.

Not a lot of make up though...I don't think men like colorful eyes, smokey eyes or creative makeup. Natural is best.

Ufsana, wear what YOU like and be happy in those pictures. That means you really have to be happy in real life.

I have written to you about my stories a little but here is what has helped me. Granted I am not divorced and have no kids, but man hunting is challenging even for girls who others assume May have it easy.

-I've taken time off my job - I took a 2 month vacation actually. That helped a lot.

-I lived with my family who I know loves me a lot and I take myself out of toxic situations. I don't talk to people including family, who are attacking me.

-I am doing things I want. I picked a job, temporary, in the hills and moubtains. Great place to unwind and think and just take care of yourself. You have a kid so not easy but if he isn't in school yet you could try something like this. See if your job can take you to another city or town. Explore, relax, meet new people, make friends. Spending the holidays in old fashioned America is actually nice. There are people who look at me oddly here but I am safe and I meet new people and enjoy the hills and winter and all the natural stuff.

-make decisions for YOU and your child. Your kid needs you. Get involved in the PTA, meet other young moms, arrange at dates etc.

My best friend met her husband by getting involved in a local new age masjid run by young professionals. He is a guy from the military who spent time in Iraq and decided to convert. They are super happy. She went through a messy divorce and her in laws who are a powerful family involved in local masjids etc really bad mouthed her to everyone. She moved to another city where no one knew her and just started living life. She traveled, worked out, worked on her career, and had a lot of fun, made friends with other working women at the mosque. They actually found out about the soldier and set her up and even then it took 2 years of them spending time in the same social circle before she decided to entertain the idea of marriage. He wanted her so he persisted in keeping in touch.

And he makes less than her, in fact, she is putting him through college. After college, his income won't even 50% match here but he learns from the religion on how to really treat women so he is not bothered with her income. In fact, he wants her account to stay separate. He is that imandaar.

Just saying. Work on you, spend time with your son, he is growing up and these years will go by FAST. So enjoy it. The right guy will get attracted because who isn't attracted to a happy girl? No one is attracted to Debbie downer.

sheesh…she just asked what to wear… itni lambi post :silly:

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

What do women usually wear in rishta pics? Lol just wear what you find comfortable. I like shalwar kameez on girls but western clothing that isn't trashy is cool too. The one thing I hate is when girls layer on the makeup extremely thick, like Jersey Shore trashy look.

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

^Yap..

Wear what you think looks pretty on you. And frankly..try to look natural. And yes..shalwar kameez all the way!

Re: Taking matters into my own hands - question for the guys

i would like my would-be rishta wear shalwar/chooRiidaar paijaama qameez for our first meeting…just like this one:

I gotcha…so like a foreshadowing of your post marital demise? Clever!
