What does our society think of women who head off to the sperm bank to get fertilized when their time is ticking away and there is very little chance of a marriage materializing?
Do desi women even do this?

Re: Taking a Trip to the Sperm Bank
is her partner infertile?...cos if thats the issue then kool...who will know?...unless you get a black baby by two fair skinned desis...as for an alone woman by herself doing it...imagine the rumours...who is his father etc...i myself have no issue with it but im sure the desi community wont exactly look at this in the best manner...
Re: Taking a Trip to the Sperm Bank
If society didn't helped such women so far, then they will never accept them visiting sperm banks to get fertilize.
However, desi women do this.
Re: Taking a Trip to the Sperm Bank
If a woman is so desparate to have a child, why not adopt? She'll get the same amt of bullshiit from the "community" but i'm sure an older, unmarried, career-woman has had much shiit thrown at her for being the way she is so I doubt she would care...God forbid I ever get in that situation, I'd rather adopt than go through the sperm bank thing. I think it's wrong to do that.

Adoption sounds like the better option...unless you want to go through the whole 9months and pregnancy thing...
Re: Taking a Trip to the Sperm Bank
PCG always comes with innovative ideas for desi women folk!
how on earth desis will accept a unmarried women getting pregnant? with or without a sperm bank help?
Re: Taking a Trip to the Sperm Bank
Does it really matter if desis will or won’t accept? I mean too many ppl care about what the communtiy will say. The reason they give is that “you live with people on this earth, you have to care about them”, which i believe is utter BS in regards to life decisions. I can understand if your family won’t feel comfortalbe iwth an idea, but sometimes if you want it enough, and your family loves you enough they’ll get over it. I know my parents won’t like the idea of my adopting if i ever do, but all I can say is, if they can love my brother’s dog as much as a grandchild, they can definitely love someone that I’m raising ![]()

Re: Taking a Trip to the Sperm Bank
Desi boys donate their sperm to sperm banks - so if a desi woman wanted, she could impregnate herself with those sperms - that is if she wants the child to be fully desi. I don't know if sperm banks have the religious affiliation of the donor available, but they do have profiles from which you can choose from - and those profiles do talk about the person's background.
In this thread, the hypothetical female is not married. So its not an issue of infertility. Its an issue of a lady who would like to have babies, but hasn't been able to nab a rishtaa.
Re: Taking a Trip to the Sperm Bank

Re: Taking a Trip to the Sperm Bank
Any society consists of practicing and believing Muslims (note that there is no fully integrated Islamic society present at this time on the face of earth but even then it) will term such a behavior as Fornication (or adultery in case a married woman does it…)
Re: Taking a Trip to the Sperm Bank
But there is no SEX involved!
The sin of fornication and adultery is not that a baby is being born - otherwise it would be pelted with stones like in barbaric societies. The sin of fornication and adultery is more due to the social implications. In the case of adultery, its because you're hurting yourself emotionally, you're breaking a promise to your spouse, you're hurting your spouse, and such reasons. In the case of fornication, it is being unjust to your future spouse because if they managed to keep their genitals in their pants, then so should you have.
The sin is not centered around the joining of sperm/egg because then that child would be considered a ******* and it would have to be killed, or it would be told that it is never getting into heaven.
In the case of sperm bank fertilization, it would be neither fornication or adultery, since none of the aforementioned social injustices are taking place. However, one can argue that it is sinful, because that child is being denied the knowledge of their real father. That's the only religious take one can argue from.
Fornication and adultery are two different things, and they're absolutely not like going to a sperm bank, simply because there is no sex involved.
You go have sex, and then you might understand that sex is more than a mechanical joining of two cells. Its way more of an emotional experience. (Given that somehow you fail to understand this a priori).
Re: Taking a Trip to the Sperm Bank
I was just pointing out the Islamic take on the issue and what it is considered as.
No comments… Only an experienced person can comment or say on such matters since the pre-requisite is that you go have sex.
Re: Taking a Trip to the Sperm Bank
From my understanding if we're talking about "islamic" arguement most scholors are fine with all assisted reproductive techniques as long as the sperm and egg are two people who are married. I do not rememer if there was any statement on gestational surrogotes (sperm/egg from infertile couple, the womb is rented)...
leaving that aside...i don't know what to say.,...
i'm all for adoption but i do understand the desire to have a pregancy and to at the very least have a child that has 50% of your genes...looks a bit like you...etc...
It's a tough decision but i do know unmarried womene now 35, 37 and the sadness of not having a child its rough.....I wouldn't want to doom that woman..but on the flip side I don't know...perhaps i adoption is a nice islamically correct option?
Finally PC i don't believe islamically any sin of being a ******* child is not the child's fault (like christians) rather the sin is hte parents and the child is born sinless...
