The Palm looks absolutely gorgeous. Bet it's almost sold out too.
I'm hoping that we can detour to Dubai on our trip to Muscat in a couple of weeks. Ibrahim has been there and he can't stop raving about all the property development that's going on there.
Muzna - The Palm has been sold out, but many of da local real estate agencies managed to pick up da villas…there is 1 Pakistani dude, who bought an entire leaf…needless to say he has 110 petrol pumps in US alone…!
Villas are available in The Palm, but at an Xorbitant rate, irony is, people are still interested in buying property there. Englands footballer Owen has bought a villa there…!
Here are da pics of Madinat Jumeirah for sharaabi & other people who are interested
Will the scene be the same when all the oil reserves in arab land are depleted? Dubai is making good progress but will it be able to sustain itself without any black gold?
Dude why do you think they're doin all this? Onceteh oil is gone we're gonna feed off the money we make on tourism...and DUbaiLand is an up and coming amazing amusement park..along with that total underwater resort.

I heard that a lot of these buildings are almost half- empty...that they keep building more buildings, but the rooms aren't being rented by businesses, etc... is that true?

I heard the same thing from a couple guys last week. I think the obvious reason is that Dubai is ultimately an almost 'artificially' wealthy society (oil revenues). Other cities with such appearances and facilities have been the products of industrialization and diverse economic input from various sectors. Dubai has done a great job of growing a free economy recently, but that core sense of industry does not exist. As a result, all the firms and enterprises that would exist in a comparable city simply do not exist in Dubai. This is gradually changing as Dubai adapts and braces for significantly slowed oil production (estimated by 2010). It will be very interesting to see how everything works out in 10 years or so.
