Taj Mahal............

Hindus regard this as a Hindu building now!. I watched this indian film yesterday called ‘Soldier’. The guy had to answer 3 questions about the girl’s fav things. One question was, what was the girls fav monument/building!. The answer was the monument of love: Taj Mahal…Hindus are so against muslims, so how come they love the Taj Mahal, after all it was built by a Muslim for his wife, plus it looks like a mosque + has muslim calligraphy carved on it???
This makes me wonder!

Anybody got anything to add/say?

PS. Not sure if this is supposed to be in this forum?.

I think this fits the 'shor-sharaba' section.

Hindus are so against muslims, so how come they love the Taj Mahal<

Some hindus hate muslims, some muslims hate hindus, not all, most dont.

Taj Mahal is considered as an outstanding piece of indian culture, no sane person goes around labeling it hindu or muslim.

weren't you the one with lots of cribs about indian movies? why watch one everyday then? ;-)

btw, ever visited the taj mahal?

let me correct you Queer, it has nothing to do with Inidan culture, its just a great example of Muslims architecture. You can see that it has a mosque like shape and has nothing to do with Indian architecture

I have visited Taj Mehal and was treated really bad by Indian Intelligence people who asked to see my passport in Agra.

alibeta, what is muslim architecture? do u mean arab architecture? tell me one good building in that doomed arabia which can stand near the feet of taj mahal.

ZZ ok i know that taj mehal is avery beautiful mehal and is a muslim architecture and is extreamly respectable for us muslims but arabia's buildings and mosque have thier own level and beauty .....they are more great as they are built on such a great place.

Everybody is forgetting to mention that hindutva agitators are now claiming that Taj Mahal was built on the site of a temple (like 5000 mosques which ideally they would like to demolish and replace with hindu temples). If you like I can provide a direct link to this site but it has been mentioned here frequently enough.

As for the film, great if they want to praise this beautiful building built by the muslim ruler of India in commemeration to his wife, but no need to be shy about praising the builder as well as the building.

Queer

Taj Mahal is considered as an outstanding piece of indian culture<<

Why are you so desperate to claimit as 'Indian' rather than muslim? As you claim muslims are part of India, why not let them have the credit for what was done by their religious ancestors? Nobody is saying the rest of India can't appreciate it...just give credit where it is due.

Alibeta,

Indian culture includes the contributions of muslims of the subcontinent, india has been their home for more than the last 1000 years, even going by religious ancestry. Without the muslims, indian culture would have been enormously different, ask my friend Xtreme, he’s an expert on the contribution of muslims to indian language and culture.

Xtreme,

did i say muslims dont deserve credit for the Taj Mahal? i dont think so. and if you really wanna split hair, lets give credit to the sunni naqshbandi muslims of persian ancestry. will that do, or do i need to further narrowdown the recipients of honor?

Nobody is saying the rest of India can’t appreciate it…<

what else is Hana’s complaint? Isnt she moaning about hindus appreciating “muslim art”?

Hindu's appreciating muslim art.....somehow, I don't think so queer!. Me moaning..'never'.
You should get your facts right. For a start this mahal was built by a muslim...and Hello...waky, waky...your acting kinda queer...doesn't it look like a mosque...the 4 minarets, dome muslim architecture carvedin it.
So how can you regard it as a hindu building

Me moaning..'never'.<

sorry ma'am, it was Xtreme who was moaning and i thought it was you. Xtreme, dont moan, varna bhau aa jayegaa..

i whole-heartedly agree with the rest of your post, i am overwhelmed by the sheer might of your brilliant arguments, thank you for showing me the light. may i hazard a couple of stupid questions? you ever known a hindu personally? and how old are you?

hmm why dunn we just quite yip yapin about this and just say a great monument of the world.

It exemplifies, a great contribution to the culture and history of india by the muslims. and the fact that it is so loved and cherished by muslims and hindus and sikhs etc only illustrates to me that we can have mutual understanding.

Muslims and Hindus just like so many other groups have contributed so much to each other’s culture and that has added to the rich colours of the sub continent as a whole.
