Re: Tableegh/Preaching
I was asked by a friend once as to why non-muslims are not allowed preach in muslim countries. Atleast in Afghanistan, we have seen instances of people accused of preaching christianity kidnapped, killed or face death threat. Atleast one poster here thinks that Islamic Sharia makes punishable by death. What are the references in Quran that say this? If non-muslims can be killed for preaching in Islamic state, then it would be ok if non-muslim states start imprisoning and executing muslim for Tableegh. Without Tableegh, how will the message of Islam be able to reach non-muslims (Other than fighting war and subjugation)?
Some govts. don't impose these restrictions. E.g. Pakistan has never had a restriction on this. Sialkot is a living example. All the converts made to Christianity in Sialkot will probably outnumber those anywhere else in Pakistan.
Jehova's witnesses roam free in our cities.
As far as countries such as Saudi Arabia or other middle east countries are concerned, they do impose the restriction.
I don't know of a Quranic injunction to do this nor am I aware of any such hadith. That does not mean it is not out there. I just don't know.
We need to ask a scholar about this.
