Tableegh / Dawah

In each city of Pakistan there are colonies where the bhangies/janators live. Does anybody work on inviting them to Islam ? I see that people come to my Masjid in USA from Pakistan. Should inviting these people to Islam not be the biggest priority ?
I have some ideas of my own to start a project for that purpose. Please float any kind of ideas for achieving the the goal of extending the invitation to Islam to these people.

Re: Tableegh / Dawah

Errm .. well its a very good idea .. may You succeed in what you wana do ..

maybe you can start telling us by what you wana do .. and so we can elabborate on what you have in mind and build on that further ...

but once again .... brilliant idea ......After all the prophet SAW was teacher to the whole of mankind ... and HE SAW was on this earth for one and only one reason .. to do the Tabligh of Allah Almighty ... :biggthumb

Re: Tableegh / Dawah

If you are refering to why Tableeghi Jamaat people come to muslims and not go to non muslims, then the philosophy is pretty simple

Islam beleives in Quality vs Quantity. Tablighis are brining current muslims back to basics of deen

But neverhless, there is a big effort going on in preeching islam to non muslims. Any imam of any masjid in USA can confirm that there are lot of non-muslims converting to muslims

One my my good friend who is part of Tablighi Jmaat is an Indian_Jew converted to Muslim

Re: Tableegh / Dawah

I am trying to contact some people out there who can go on a weekly basis to these colonies and invite them to Islam.

My intention is not to criticize I mentioned my observation just in the passing.

Re: Tableegh / Dawah

Mirch I did not take it as criticism .. I am in agreement with what you said, I was just clarifying the role of Tablighis

Re: Tableegh / Dawah

I would suggest you to first spend some time in Tableegh to better understand whats going on instead of looking at it from outside. Calling people towards Allah :swt: is what all the prophets and nabi’s did. Calling people towards Allah :swt: is better than your whole life of Ibadat by locking yourself in a room and doing Ibadat 24/7.

Mirch you are thinking of starting something on your own I would suggest why invent the wheel from scratch? You are claiming that these Tableeghi do not visit the bhangies/janators I wonder what is your source? How do you came to know they don’t visit them?

Re: Tableegh / Dawah

Great

This is better to ask those who know…
bcz this is fact that a blind man followes one who have eyes
So go to tableegh and understand the myth of that then You can decide what to do now ok

Re: Tableegh / Dawah

eh?

they’ve got jews in india :konfused:

Re: Tableegh / Dawah

Ok don't go join them blindly but if you are givne the proof from Quran and Hadith than would you go join?

Lets see...

On the other hand one can always pray to Allah and ask for guidance. So before you go join them pray to Allah with all honesty that if this work of Dawah is right than keep you intact (given that you WILL continue the work of Dawah if you find it to be true with honesty) otherwise keep you away from it. This way you don't have to blame anyone and you don't have to follow someone blindly.

Re: Tableegh / Dawah

lolx thats what i was thinking… i know there are alot in Iran !

Re: Tableegh / Dawah

Which city are you talking about working in?

I think this is a great idea, but you just have to be careful not to infiltrate them with any violent ideas like over-emphasizing jihaad or giving violent views on it.

Beyond that you need to understand your audience first:

They're poor.
They're illiterate.
Know their exposure to Islam, and their views on it.
Know whether they've been visiting masjids, and if so, which ones - and know what's being taught at those masjids (every Imam has his own flavor of preaching).
Know their socio-economic problems well.
Know their daily activities - will help you come up with examples and analogies that they can relate to.
Know what times of the day you can approach them, so you get a maximal audience.

Given some of the characteristics you might find in these populations:

  1. Don't wear flashy clothes when visiting them - be respectful of their poverty.
  2. Come up with stories and analogies that a poor person can relate to.
  3. Find out what abuses go on in their society and address them as a priority(ex. domestic violence, child abuse) - even if you don't convert them, you can possibly change some behaviors.
  4. Get in contact with some charity organizations that might help people in the colony get a job.
  5. Start with a small colony first - stick to just one colony - see what works and what doesn't and develop a system first.
  6. Set up a database - have every family name, and family members entered in. Write progress reports for each one.
  7. Get a psychologist on board that would be willing to volunteer their services.
  8. Get 1-2 Imams in the local community involved (trustworthy and knowledgeable ones...)
  9. Get a few donors involved that are willing to organize some charity efforts for your new organization, like donating foods, baby formulas, blankets, etc. Will help you get them on your side.

I have more, but I'm tired of writing now. This is no laughing matter - this is exactly how Christian organizations converted so many people in Punjab into Christianity, actually - by simply feeding the poor.

They're vulnerable populations that can do with much education about real Islam. It will cut down on recruitment of terrorists, might help alleviate social problems that go along with poverty, will reduce ignorance.

Thank-you so much for taking this work on. Please keep us updated on your progress!

Re: Tableegh / Dawah

Nice post PCG. I am USA . I always used to think about this and then though me be I can do something about it . I am in the planning stages now. Your ideas and advice is very valueable.
Thanks again.

Re: Tableegh / Dawah

Perhaps you can include beggers in it too, looking at the growing population of them in Pakistan. I know someone preaches Islam to folks in Correction Facilities, if you are looking for more challenge.
