I went to visit my wedding venue yesterday and they informed me that they dont do table centrepieces and if I want chaircovers then they will charge 2.50 quid per chair…!!!
So now im on the hunt for someone who can do it cheaper for me…
I need someone in UK…if they can do it cheap 4 mehndi then thats great..otherwise im probably gnna stick a few candles in a bowl myself..but I def need someone to do sumfin nice 4 barat and walima..if u guys have booked ne1 who is giving a good price then let me know…
At the same time if u have some great ideas for table centrepieces for mehndi, barat and walima..then let me know!
if you want your food to be delicious and people rave about it, go with sapna. they are really honest and were great to work with. i had them for both days, but different menu's. they do the centre pieces too, but i went with a local florist who did everything for me.
i know chair covers are expensive but they really do set the wedding hall off beautifully, obviolusly if you have lots of guests then it can become really expensive.
Hey- my in laws are using Sapna for our walima in mayfair. Theyre supposed to be good/reliable.
I'm using Payal for the wedding, and so far (although they have an amazing reputation) theyve quoted me £4.50 for chair covers. So I think you've got a very very reasonable quote there. They've quote me quite a lot for stages etc too- although theyre table centres are pretty expensive, theyre pretty impressive too.
Table centres- check google images, it seems like the goldfish bowl is one of the best options, you can pick them up fairly cheap:
try: lavenders of london
try: rainbowfloristsupplies
Apparently places like Tesco /Ikea do these kind of bowls (and others!) too.
if i lived down south could have helped! green leaf wedding services in london do alot of asian weddings, they did my friends and it was lovely, they also did the food which was decent too, google it up x

Ive heard of sapna caterers...anyone else?
The venue is in slough.
Thanks
what do u require for the mehndi, i can do henna plates and post them out to you....lol......shame ur so far x
Hi, I do decor for weddings but am based in Glasgow, it would be definately cheaper to get someone locally, £2.50 per chair cover is not too bad by the way
what do u require for the mehndi, i can do henna plates and post them out to you....lol......shame ur so far x
Mehndi inshallah wont be an issue...im thinking of buying bowls and floating candles from ikea and that shud do!
But Barat and walima Im struggling....Sapna seem pretty gd..may give em a ring on the weekend..
Thanks for your help guys
Yes now that I have researched...2.50 is nt bad...but I still am not paying that much....dont 4get its 3 occasions...overall it wud be about 1400 for just chair covers.....thats a bit crazy! Might have to do without them :(
i wanted chair covers but with 300 ppl at the mehndi & 500 at the shadi its just not possible, i really wanted to go with sapna caterers but again they quoted us £17.50 per head if u do the maths ul see the figure is a bit of a joke for food! so we had to kinda luk for cheaper options- panjab caterers it is lol..but if u can afford it id say go with sapna they have a great rep.
as for centre pieces, i wouldnt spend too much on them...i bought these gorjus matkis from pakistan which im using for my mehndi centrepieces & for shadi jus sum standard vase with roses (the cheapest i cud find)... im just making sure the head table is fancy..
tabu ikea/ pound shops u can easily get round vases, add colour to the water stick in a floating candle & mayb one happy flower & ur done- the only thing is this stuff tks time so b prepared beforehand x
yeh your right Aishii....and i bet u im gnna be running around like a headless chicken preparing everyfin..im a bit of a control freak..it has to be 'perfect'! lol..
i only need sapna for chair covers and centre pieces...food is arranged at the hall...do u knw how much they charge for chair covers? i knw for centre pieces im looking at 6 quid per centre piece and I tink thats reasonable..i wud do DIY for barat and walima..but i tin k its 2 much 4 me 2 do..as i need 2 get ready 2...but for mehndi i shud be able 2 manage inshallah
sorry i cant remember what they said about the chair covers..
woteva u do make sure ur prepared, i dont want me or my family to do nething on the shadi day- i mean getting ready is priority lol so alhamdulilah wev got that covered, mehndi (cos the costs were to high) we decided to do the tables ourselves (covering them, tissues, centrepieces) but inshallah we are going all prepared & have decided on who will be doing what...just do the same...the thing i dont like about the water centrepieces is that they take time! so if u hv trusting friends show them what u want & get them to do it- dont b running around urself! x
yeh i may ask them 2 do that 4 me...the tables will eb ready..just need to stick water in a bowl with candles and 2 flowers.....i saw these colour changing led floating candles on ebay..they look gd..but r expensive
i was actually planning on having a little bowl filled with jelly beans & smarties lol i thought it would be fun & i no as a guest id love to sit there munching on them, but my sister sed no- hwo boring, but i am happy with my matkis (esp as i got them for like 60p)!
i have some pics at home of floating candle centrepieces from friends weddings so il try to send u them, might help x
I would love smarties bowl...come on..Starters dnt come 4 ages usually! lol and it wud be colourful...
wish I thought of matkis wen I was in pakiland...but then again I didnt knw I was getting married then otehrwise i wud have been more prepared..everyfin is so cheap there!
yeh it is but i lovee the bowl thing trust me its gona luk fab, theyr cheap (for here) & luk really nice, its just about being prepared.. i am really happy with the matkis cos theyr all multi colours & thats my mehndi theme.. but honestly wen i think about it how much notice of the centrpieces do u take wen u go to a mehndi? (i didnt even care about them until i was asked about them) its the food us pakis r interested in so as long as thats nice & u luk beautiful & happy inshallah ur sorted x
