Re: Taare Zameen Per
I just watched "No Smoking", and that is my favorite Indian movie of 2007 for now. Let's see if Taare Zameen Per can beat it.
What!!!!
Many people said it's one of the worst films released this year.

Re: Taare Zameen Per
See this, TZP rated ahead of ‘The Godfather’ @ IMDb
Re: Taare Zameen Per
loved the movie and it was so refreshing to watch something different from the usual bolly stuff.
But one thing I didn't understand was after Amir's entry he kept on stressing the fact that there is so much competition in the schools and it's too much for lil kids to handle and then when we get to the end of the movie he organizes an art COMPETITION for the whole school!! Isn't he sorta contradicting his own stand. Maybe he was just saying that it shouldn't be such a cutthroat type of competition but more of a healthy kind where it's not too stressful. Who knows what Amir the director was thinking....
Oh well, I loved Amir and the lil boy and surprisingly the boy's acting was more natural than Amir's at certain points....
ha ha not good to think to much...
Hi Indopak :)
Re: Taare Zameen Per
^ after another person had mentioned it, amir contradicting such a strong point stuck out even more. But maybe it was to increase Ishaan's confidence like humi said or to show that without competition the world can't function and that healthy competition is the way to go.
I'm glad that dyslexia is better known now in south asia and that Amir showed that dyslexics can be good at other subjects too along with art. They just have a different way of learning.

These "people" include idiots and SRK-suckups like Taran Adarsh; I wouldn't pay too much attention to them.

point to consider here is that he made an effort to let ppl express with full freedom on a piece of paper. he did not force any quidelines k competition yea ho aisa ho etc.
thats the main idea in the movie to let these kids express and explore whats hidden in them without following the sheep herd of doctors and engineers ,,
Re: Taare Zameen Per
Awsome Awsome movie....
Wish more Indian directors made movies like these.

I was glued to the screen while watching "No Smoking." Very different and wierd indeed but it kept me occupied. I had my eyes wide open the whole time. I had many unanswered questions while watching the movie that are still not answred but I feel that finding the answers will only ruin it. I loved it and thats all that matters.

Make up your own answers my friend; that's where the fun lies with such movies! Haven't watched TZP yet, but I am expecting it to be really good as well.
Re: Taare Zameen Per
Is it worth watching is theater or on DVD?
Re: Taare Zameen Per
Indo, u didnt get the point. He never stressed competition is too much for the kids. But an un-fair competition and where u being judge on it over and over again.
In case of dyslexia, autism etc when u can not focus on particular subjects/areas and u r being judge on it over and over again. For example if u r engineering student and everyone asks u a complex medical question everyday and when u cant answer they call u duffer, idiot, everyone on the earth knows the answer but u dont…even a grown up normal person will go insane after few months. Imagine the same situation for a 9 yr older.
Competitions r (can be) important for self confidence if they are held on equal levels. No one is an art expert but lets do the painting. Plus, no one in the end is calling anyone duffer bcos we r having it for the ‘fun’

Re: Taare Zameen Per
luks ok.... i am not a amir khan fan at all so not interested....the main kid isnot cute at all...so wont go to cinema n waste me money on it
creep
Re: Taare Zameen Per
saw this today, one of the rare gems churned out by bolly. that song they played when the kid got sent to boarding school made me gulp a few times. i went in there with low expectations given all the hype.. but what a superb movie it was!
the first half was especially good with all the attention devoted to showing the world through the eyes of a child… it just grabs you and makes u forget for a little while that u’re an adult now. sigh… simply beaut :k:
Re: Taare Zameen Per
What I liked about the movie was that it was simple. No over acting. No myterious and dark scenes. I didn't feel like I was being forced to cry or be sad. My thoughts were exactly the opposite when I watched "Black."
And now the bad... At times, I really felt like I was watching a documentary. When he mentioned all the big names in his speach to the class in an attempt to bring the kid out of his shell, was that all true? Did they all really have dyslexia in their childhood? I felt that the speach was a little too much bakwas.
Re: Taare Zameen Per
some moments in the film i appreciated - when it's announced the child got the first prize, and he doesn't know how to face everyone and his own victory.
the last scene. the kid breaks into a run toward his friend, the art teacher, in a spontaneous, instinctive gesture.

I thought that this last scene was rather lame
Re: Taare Zameen Per
hmm, okay. i thought it was representative of how most times, gratitude or affection are best communicated in the simplest of gestures, spontaneously and without the use of fancy words.
Re: Taare Zameen Per
Dyslexia is more common than we think, and it is mostly misdiagnosed as laziness and dumbness. Movie was very good. A bit sad though, and quite heart-aching, especially for those who are parents. Its a serious movie, make no mistake; and don't expect masala to spice up your movie experience. Its an art movie, so keep your expectations appropriate.
