Re: T20 World Cup 2014
Cricket is not game of emotion neither game of bharak (Sultan Rahi type). Cricket is game of numbers. To win, team make runs in whatever way or gets wicket in whatever way. It does not matter if a player hits the ball for six or takes 6 singles, as both counts same. Same way if a player hit two fours in 12 balls then it is same as another player made 8 singles in 12 balls as S/R of both would be same.
Players do not make century in every inning nor players get out on zero in every inning. A player's capability is what player makes on average per inning. All players who play for country play first class matches against bowlers of their country, so one can check their capability when looking their first class match averages and strike rate. If they played international matches then one can check that too for their figures.
It is stupid to think that if Afridi hit 100 in one inning he would hit 100 in all innings, rather chances is that he would get out between 5 and 15 in next 10 innings because Afridi average per inning is around 20. Same is true for other players whose average is around 20. On the other hand, if players average is 50 then they would make 100 in one inning and may make another 100 in next 4 to 5 innings.
Now, keeping that in mind, check batting averages of Indian players and Pakistani players, then think and you would know why I think they may reach semi-final or final.
As for Pakistan, the runs they made ... 130 in 20 overs, that is what they are capable of. They may make odd 180 or odd 50 ... but on average Pakistani team is 130-150 team ... that may win if tukka lag jayea.:). Aaj tukka nahi laga. It is subtle thing, a good tukka can get Pakistan 6 runs and failed tukka would result in catch at boundary making Pakistan lose wicket and game. :)
Just imagine ... Indian first 3 batsmen figures are:
Rohit Sharma averages 60 in first class matches and 57 in test.
Kholi averages 51 in first class matches and 46.5 in test.
Dhawan averages 46 in first class matches and 48.5 in test.
In comparison Pakistan has no batsman in team whose first class average is above 50 ... or test match average better than any 3 mentioned above.
Actually Pakistan has only one batsman in this '20-20' team that has test average above 40 ... and that also because he 'Ahmed Shehzad' only played 3 tests with one century, so average is 45.5. Time would tell how long his average would stay above 40 as his first class average is just 41.
If you will look at figures, you will find that Pakistan bowling might have edge over Indians (especially in T20s), but difference is not that big in test and ODI. Actually compared to Indian bowlers, only Ajmal is slightly better than Ashwin and Shami when it comes to test and ODI.
