Re: T20 Final - Pakistan v Sri Lanka - Jun. 21, 09
congrats every1 :k: :k: ![]()
Congratulations to everyone on Pakistan winning the T20 World Cup.
This is an amazing victory led by a great captain. Younis Khan has shown great class and inspired the team to play at their best. Team that had not played cricket in a while and a nation that is going through hell.
Now, this team needs to captalize on this victory and become a dominant team.
Sri Lanka and South Africa even though could not make it but they have a great team that has all the ingrediant to win. Pakistan needs to do the same. They have the variety, talent and now confidence to make winning a habbit.
Credit for this memorable victory goes to Younis, Afridi, Umer Gull, Akmal, Ajmal and Razzaq.
Great job once again and Congratulations to everyone. ![]()

One of the banner in the videos:
"I bought my ticket off an Indian"
LOL!!
Re: T20 Final - Pakistan v Sri Lanka - Jun. 21, 09
^^^^Haha inni LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I personally do not encourage neither condone the behavior of my Pakistani peers who have opted to express their elation by means of braze and insolent rejoinders at India and the Indian fans. Personally, I would much rather thank God for our team’s success, and appreciate my team and its players, and just leave it at that.
That being said, I do see where some members are coming from… the attitude and haughtiness that was on display by the Indian spectators in the early Indian matches was something very appalling. Banners and banters mocking Pakistan when Pakistan wasn’t even playing against India was something that got to a lot of my countrymen I suppose, and I guess I can’t expect everyone to be calm and composed in the face of such disdain and pompous attitude.
Additionally, we also need to understand that many Pakistanis see this victory as vindication of Pakistan’s place in world cricket which was constantly being questioned for the past two years with teams denying to visit Pakistan not just because of national instability, but also because many teams and their respective cricketing boards just didn’t take Pakistan cricket seriously. So, in the context of that situation, the current win holds special in allowing us to exculpate any doubts about the competitive ability of the cricket team.
I hope this puts things in perspective. Again, I personally didn’t feel the need to, nor have I engaged in denigration of any other country including India, and I would again request the fellow members on this board to consider doing the same. Let’s enjoy our win in an absolute sense with humility and modesty in line with our religious and cultural values.
I’m sorry but I’ve been holding this in for the last three or four days since winning the semi-final and I just had to come out and say this because it hurts me to see my colleagues engage in the very same mannerisms that we initially condemned from the other side. I understand the urge and impulse for a reply, but let’s try to steer away from condescending behavior, and remain humble in our success.
Thanks for reading this through.
Thank you lucid. This is what I am trying to say. Pakistan cannot blame India for their jingoistic outpouring when they themselves are going over the top. We all know that this wouldnt last long before the same victorious team comes crashing down. India has done that and Pakistan is fully capable of it.
Blaming money power, BCCI, arrogance of Indian players are just acts of frustration at the state in which Pakistan is and is being governed. It is not Indias fault that Pakistan became a dangerous country to play cricket. It is not Indias fault that Peiterson decides not to tour Pakistan and tour India.

On a side note it is nice to see some life in GS. Usually for last one year or so GS became too drab.

Osman Samiuddin line pay aa gaya!
He now has good things to say about Pakistan cricket. This one guy commented on his article (A time to laugh, a time to heal | Opinion | Cricinfo Magazine | Cricinfo.com) on cricinfo:

Hi Mr Sammiudin, would like to ask you one question in the light of you articles on 17 June 2009, Machine vs Man, calling Pakistan the past. Can you tell me what made you say that and after watching the same semi final and the final itself what does it show you and the rest of the world. PAK cricket has never been the past and never will be.
take that Osman!
Re: T20 Final - Pakistan v Sri Lanka - Jun. 21, 09
^ i dont think there is any need to be so negative. osman has always represented Pakistan well I think. to call Pakistan the past is not an insult, and being well-oiled machines like SA isnt the future Pakistan should neccesarily aspire to.
The passage referred to says nothing controversial, or anything any of us wouldnt say around the coffee table:
[quote]
Pakistan are the past. They are wholly dysfunctional, but just about getting along, though unsure where they are going. They don't control their extras, they don't run the singles hard and they field as if it were still the 60s. They are least bothered about erasing the flaws because any win will be in spite of them. They did hire a psychologist though, and you can only imagine what those sessions were like and how much they actually talked about sport and cricket. There are permanent mutterings of serious rifts. They may not bat, bowl or field well all the time, but sometimes, they do what can only be described as a 'Pakistan': that is, they bowl, bat or field spectacularly, briefly, to change the outcome of matches. You cannot plan or account for this as an opponent because Pakistan themselves don't plan or account for it.
It can come from any person, any discipline, but on evidence, it is likelier to come from the bowling. The batting needs Shoaib Malik and Misbah-ul-Haq to really get their show going. A piece of fielding brilliance cannot be discounted, but generally both Pakistan and West Indies have happily disproved the dictum that in T20 cricket you have to be Jonty Rhodes to get anywhere. Heroes will likely be found among the Umar Guls, the spinners and maybe even Mohammad Aamer, who is a throwback to the late 80s and early 90s, when Pakistani fast bowlers were born ready to play international cricket.

"They are wholly dysfunctional, but just about getting along, though unsure where they are going."
So's this passage!
Re: T20 Final - Pakistan v Sri Lanka - Jun. 21, 09
^ which is true for the time the article was written.
Also note the title of the piece..“Science vs. art”](http://www.cricinfo.com/wt202009/content/current/story/409501.html). Not a bad assessment of SA vs. Pakistan’s emphasis and orientations.

I see your point
Woolmer’s son praises Younus
LAHORE: Dale Woolmer, son of Pakistan’s late coach Bob Woolmer, said captain Younus Khan dedicated Pakistan’s World Twenty20 victory to the nation and his father to acknowledge his association with the Pakistan cricket.
Appreciating the comments of Younus, Dale thanked the skipper for giving consideration to his father and to dedicate team’s success to him.
He also spoke highly of Younus’ performance as captain. **‘Dedicating the Cup to my father is very sweet and lovely,’ said Dale in a statement made available here on Wednesday. **
He recalled his father’s attachment with the Pakistan team and said, ‘My father used to say that Pakistan can be the best team if they believe in themselves.’
Dale visited Pakistan more than once and stayed in Lahore with his father spoke warmly about the people of Pakistan and described them friendly.
Commenting on the situation after the refusal of foreign teams to visit Pakistan, Dale said, ‘People of Pakistan are great and foreign cricket teams should visit Pakistan.’
‘It is very important for Pakistan cricket that foreign teams should visit Pakistan to play cricket,’ he said adding, ‘I hope the matter of foreign teams’ visit to Pakistan will be sorted out soon.’
He praised the leadership qualities of Younus and said he led the team from the front by putting up excellent show with high quality performance.
Dale Woolmer is the younger son of Bob and currently living in England.
