It looks like the 54 year rule of the the Assad family has come to an end with a whimper just like Ghani and his suitcases out of Kabul in 2021. Ironically, the army disappeared in Kabul just like in Damascus while both groups are officially designated as terrorists.
The Taliban have been partially rehabilitated with “accounting errors” aka suitcases full of dollars to kill Chinese in Pakistan. They erm “ISIS Khorasan” which is basically former taliban members not that Taliban haven’t fired at Pakistani border and fully support TTP have also been accused of running assassination campaigns on India’s behalf by a former CIA official on Shawn Ryan’s podcast. They called her a liar for suggesting that taliban were being funded by the US but that came out to be true in the summer of this year.
There are many rebels groups unlike Afghanistan but HTS is the biggest one. I think that there is a vested interest of US, Israel and Turkey if not other regional players that Syria doesn’t devolve into another Libya.
It was funny to see butt hurt face of Prof Marandi from Tehran University no YouTube. It’ll be a shock to Iran since it makes it nearly impossible for them to fund Hezbollah when they need it with Israeli attacks on them in Lebanon. I don’t know what relationship Syria will have with Iran but the Sunnis are pissed for all massacres done by Shiite militiamen from Iran, Iraq and Hezbollah itself. There were even reports of hezbollah chanting in Yarmouk that we have killed the killers of Hussain. Totally unnecessary but now Iran will pay the price.
