Free Syrian Army Demands al-Qaeda Abandon Azaz to Them

Another round of fighting has erupted today in the northwestern Syrian border town of Azaz, as well as in the northeastern Kurdish portion of the country, both along the Turkish border.

Azaz has been a key border crossing, and fighting has been growing for days after al-Qaeda seized the town from secular rivals. The Free Syrian Army (FSA) is now demanding that al-Qaeda cede the town to them.

That’s of course unlikely, an al-Qaeda has been working on disarming the other factions around Azaz with a threat of military operations against them. Turkey has closed the Azaz crossing for weeks over the fighting.

Between the latest Azaz clashes and the fighting in Western Kurdistan, the death toll for Friday was at least 19 in rebel-on-rebel violence, and these wars within a war are becoming more and more active.

It's very easy to involve these alqaeda type people in wars and then becomes a nightmare to get rid of them.

Re: Syrian Rebels Fight Each Other Along Turkish

Good for both

Re: Syrian Rebels Fight Each Other Along Turkish

Makes me laugh really. I KNEW these FSA and alqaeda ppl would come face to face. Yap it was about time. This whole region has become war between hate triangle. FSA hates>> Assad Regime and Alqaeda. Alqaeda hates FSA and Assad regime. Assad regime hates Alqaeda and FSA both..

Re: Syrian Rebels Fight Each Other Along Turkish

This was predictable. Assad remains the worse of the lot. So what?

Al Qaeda needs to be exorcised...better now than later. Assad's days are numbered, he knows it...he should wisely use this time to retreat away into a nice condo in Moscow. Perhaps the same one offered to Saddam.

Re: Syrian Rebels Fight Each Other Along Turkish

This was inevitable wasn't it. Theres bound to be more bloodshed if and when Assad falls. Syria will become another Iraq, Libya or Afghanistan but I'm surprised how few people see that.

These countries had greater stability when they were under control of stronger figures like Saddam and Gadaffi. However those leaders provoked the wrath of America and Israel and their Muslim stooge countries helped the West remove them. The same is now happening in Syria and maybe Iran next.

Re: Syrian Rebels Fight Each Other Along Turkish

If your argument is that performing atrocities, (and this is round two for the Assad family), is a-okay in the name of stability, I suggest that perhaps stability is overrated.

Even Al-Q, if they ever manage to take over a country, will need to get to the business of governance. So that Assad has provided stability really wins no brownie points...it's what he did with it...and putting a boot on the neck of the majority to carve a space for a minority to rule, well...it's instability waiting to happen. That kind of stability is only one political misstep away from what we see today...and that's exactly what happened in Syria, Libya, Egypt, etc.

Re: Syrian Rebels Fight Each Other Along Turkish

Thats right these guys were all monsters and so are pretty much all the present leaders in the middle east considering popular opinion of these forums. The war seems likely to just replace one monster with another.
Although I hope I am wrong and in fact this war leads to Syria becoming a vibrant state for all the people of Syria. However at this stage that seems like nothing but a romantic notion.
