Actually, no. Zionism has originated as a completely secular movement. This is one of the reasons the Jewish ultra-orthodox are mostly anti-Zionist.

The why did your folks chose that region, eh? Since it was a secular movemen and that particular region holds importance for practicing Jews only…why?
