Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

Despite all the rumors about him, Shoaib Akhter was left out of the Pakistan line up just due to his clashes with Inzy and a few players as well as PCB. He was left out of the team for no valid reason.
Andrew Symonds, Australia’s player of the year for ODIs last year, is another player who is facing a very similar situation. Many of my friends in real life and on this forum will go for the professionalism of Australia. Let’s see how they will treat a good player.

Symonds could still lose contract
A statement from Bob Merriman, chairman of Cricket Australia, has allayed fears that Andrew Symonds might lose his playing contract in the wake of his disciplinary indiscretions last weekend.
Despite his match-turning heroics with bat and ball against England on Thursday, Andrew Symonds remains in danger of losing his lucrative Cricket Australia playing contract,
…….
Ricky Ponting, John Buchanan and Steve Bernard - captain, coach and manager - had decided to fine Symonds and suspend him for two games after a disciplinary hearing following the defeat to Bangladesh.

Symonds feared early send-off

Andrew Symonds, who returned to the Australian team with a bang after a two-match ban for disciplinary reasons, feared that he could be sent packing midway through the tour.

How much authority must the captain and selectors should have when they just want to destroy the talent that is a national property in my opinion. Behavior is no reason to reject player like Symonds and Shoaib Akhter who have proved themselves on many instances.

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

Symonds broke the team discpline and he was punished. He accepted his punishment and got on with it. Came back and produced a match winning performance. Sadly that cant be said of the actor. Plus symonds does not manufacure injuries and than goes off on disco's or jet skiing. A big difference between the two, one a professional the other gali ka gunda.

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

Yes as for professionalism from Aus, they did give Symonds a chance, which is not a case in other situations. As for Symonds, he was no different than Shoaib, he is also a street rat:

Reports in the Australian media have said that Symonds went out for a meal with his team mates on Friday to celebrate Shane Watson’s birthday but he then went out again and did not return until around 4.30 in the morning, looking worse for wear in the team hotel the next morning. (Where was he?)

…..Symonds was drinking into the early hours of Saturday morning and that during the team warm-up before the Bangladesh match his team-mates could smell alcohol on his breath.

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

Eaziest thing is to bad mouth BigMouth SA injuries and extracurricular activities. Facts reveal a totally different story. Contrary to much propagated perception, SA has suffered injuries much as any other genuine fast bowlers. This fact can be easily ascertained thru cricinfo stats guru. But, Elahi and other critics of Sa will never ackowledge the truth.

Symmonds and Shoaib are not comparable cause Ozzies are far more accommodating and professional in their attitude. Many Ozzie’s have had drinking problems including Ricky Ponting, but they hv bounced back with support from their fans, board and teammates. This kinda thing will never happen in Pakistan, Shoaib is a classic example.

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

If our management had treated the so called 'superstars' with the same stick Aussies treat theirs, we would not be in this situation to begin with. I am glad our team management is not budging anymore. Go Woolmer Chaacha, go Inzi Go!

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

Chaacha, nephew as well as Grandpa (selectors) will depart shortly, I guess if they continue to pose themselves and their philosophy to the nation. :D

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

:k: :k: ditto

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

fartguru-- Shoaib ALWAYS enjoyed a free hand despite his problems during Tauqeer Zia's tenure. He himself admitted in tv interview that he pampered Shoaib but he didnt pay him back.

But I agree with you these two are not comparable.

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

Right on!

Exactly :k:

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

Shoaib and Symond are not comparable. One (of course Symond) admitted his mistake, learned from it and vowed not to repeat it! on the other hand Actor kisee tarha bhee bharam bazi sai baaz nahi aata and never accepts his mistakes instead he comes up with statements like "I dont have to prove anything to anyone" when asked to proove his fitness :)

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

Why are we starting all this again???

We all know what will happen. We all are going to repeat the same things all over again which we have said in the last 2-3 months.
The only positive which has came out from all these shoaib debates is that some people have got too much hatred for shoaib which is evident from their posts. Shoiab hasn’t got a chance to play cricket and prove himself in the last 3 months but some people are still sticking to all the same points which were given against him in the beginning without realizing that they should stop now for a moment and think that the guy cannot prove us wrong until and unless he gets a chance. So why don’t we wait now until the pak england series begin or lets think of some positive since the eventual result of a fit and inform shoaib will be of great value to our bowling attack and team.
But But But, this thing is not happening, some people are here proving that its not shoaib’s fitness issue and discipline which is their primary problem otherwise they would have stopped posting the same things by now, knowing that the guy needs a chance now to atleast prove something. It appears like some people hate shoaib just because they want to hate him.
Tell me honestly, these fitness or discipline problems were there for the passt 4-5 years but did you people oppose him with so much enthusiasm and continous dedication in the past as well? I guess not because he was in the team at that team and although you didn’t like him but at the same time he was in the team and performing for Pakistan. I am not saying that no one said nothing against shoaib at that time but no like the way i have seen in the pat 3 months, probably because he is out now and some people think that this is the best chance to say whatever they can say since there is no shoaib right now to prove them wrong.
I am waiting for paki england series and so ready to bash some people since i have had enough:bash:

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

Asfraf sahab the next thing you will do is compare Dalai Lama and Benazir Bhutto's expellsion!

I hope you learn from the comments above, there is no similarities between the two cases. The latter refuse to admit his mistakes and does not learn from them.

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

.......and at that time most of so-called superstars will drop their form and will fail to perform as usual to let him out again. We will observe this too

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

Agreed a bit. But his team mates don't lose their form as well to let him suffer more.

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

the only thing is that pakistan never made shoaib carry water bottles when symonds did that religously for the past two games.

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

Oh come on Ehsan! it is not his fault that he can’t perform well.

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

In all the series and competetions, Shoaib has played, he has been amongst our most successfull bowlers. Just from one match it is not fair to say that he can't perform.

Re: Symonds (following pattern of Shoaib): Another victim of blind authority

Hahaha shoaib and water bottles.. man that will be such a sight. :hehe: It is his rightful place in the team anyway. Waterboy. Finally his speed can be put to good use and deliver water quickly to the batsmen.
