1-does anyone know more about the reasons why he was so easily defeated by the sikhs
2- did people betray him
3- was he a plunderer?
Re: Syed Ahmad shaheed
He was betrayed by some Pathans and also once he was poisoned by Shias of Hazro. Maulana Sarfaraz Khan has written about it in Abaraat e Akabar. If he had succeeded in his movement, today condition on Muslims would be different.
Re: Syed Ahmad shaheed

Re: Syed Ahmad shaheed
He was not a plunderer, he was a salafi and his followers existed in one form or the other till quite recently. they also fought against teh british with the support of the pashtuns in the battle of ambala pass. The British called them the hindustani fanatics.
Syed's flaw was how quickly he believed in his own invincibility and his attempt to impose a rigid version of Islamic law on the tribes.

Please dont talk if you dont know. First of all Salafis didnt exist back then and Shaikh Syed Amhed Shaheed was a Sunni Hanafi.
Re: Syed Ahmad shaheed
i dont mean to accuse him of anything but was confused since the accounts him are different certainly his intial mission was very noble to help the muslims get rid of the hated infidel ranjeet singh
Re: Syed Ahmad shaheed
^ contrary to what people assume Singh was liked by the Muslims of Punjab proper and they served him quite ably against the pashtuns and seraiki/baloch.
Syed Ahmed was influenced by the hanbali/wahabi frame of thinking, I believe his weaponry and armour is on display in peshawar museum.
If you want a detailed read of Syed Ahmeds story read the Pathans by Olaf Caroe.
Syed Ahmeds death triggered of a reaction amongst the pashtuns and in Kabul particularly where ranjit singh was splanning on invading what remained of the Kingdom and capturing Kabul. The pashtuns rallied and defeated the sikhs in the battle of Jamrud ..which marked the end of the expansion of the Sikh empire.
