So now comes the proof that the Sydney Test was fixed, according to the following Cricinfo article. If this is true then I am appalled at the righteous indignation and defiance shown by the players (Akmals especially), when accusations of throwing the Sydney Test were flying around.
*As disclosed by the NOTW, Majeed allegedly said that Sydney was the last instance where he was involved in fixing a match. “Let me tell you the last Test we did. It was the second Test against Australia in Sydney,” he told the undercover reporter. "Australia had two more wickets left. They had a lead of 10 runs, yeah. And Pakistan had all their wickets remaining. The odds for Pakistan to lose that match, for Australia to win that match, were I think 40 to 1.
Re: Sydney Test was fixed, we made £1.3 million - Mazhar Majeed
Hmmmm....so this Majeed dude spills his guts to the undercover NOTW reporters after only knowing them for five minutes...is he stupid or what??
you know that's what i have been thinking this whole time.. when you have been doing **** for this long, you don't just talk to anybody, let alone talk in such details and take money.

well it could be that once he saw stash of 150,000 GBP pilling up on the table in front of him, he let his guards down in the hope of winning even bigger business with the new client.

The video only shows the part when he started admitting crimes and accepted money. The sting operation started couple of days before this video, so it took sometime for the crook to lower the guard.
Re: Sydney Test was fixed, we made £1.3 million - Mazhar Majeed
It's obvious that Majeed will spill the beans when he is making so much money. I'm sure he will work out a deal with Scotland Yard as well where they will give him the minimum possible punishment if he gives them all the details of how he fixed matches and who all is involved.

Meanwhile the Aussies are denying it:
“The thing that I’m most worried about if any of this is proven to be true is some of the individual performances that took place in that game,” Ponting said. “You look at Mike Hussey’s second innings hundred and Peter Siddle’s batting and the way he was with Mike Hussey that day and Nathan Hauritz taking five wickets on the final day to win us the game. All of those individual milestones will be tainted as well.” Ponting said he had no inclination that anything was amiss at the time but the manner of Pakistan’s capitulation raised more than a few eyebrows and the Test was investigated by the ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit, which found no evidence of match-fixing.
Meawhile Cricket Australia chief James Sutherland also said he believes the Sydney Test was clean and that Australia won the game on merit. He reacted to the news of the alleged spot-fixing by calling for a thorough investigation into the incident by both the UK police and the ICC."
Re: Sydney Test was fixed, we made £1.3 million - Mazhar Majeed
He has to deny it for couple of reasons. Majeed claiming it was fixed doesn’t mean that Aussies were party to the fixing. Ponting forgot how Hussey got to his century. Couple of our special batsmen know how well to throw their wickets.
Re: Sydney Test was fixed, we made £1.3 million - Mazhar Majeed
^ The Aussies seem more worried about their individual milestones than anything and ofcourse they do not want the result to be declared void by the ICC

Why shouldnt they be worried about their individual achievements? These allegations, if true, undermine accomplishments and achievements that these players have worked hard for their whole lives. Hussey played domestic cricket till he was 30, working day in and day out, and for his Test career to have a splash of taint because of the alleged lack of integrity of our players is a disgrace.
And herein lies another issue. Why should another team play us, and risk their players' achievements potentially being a farce? Pakistan playing international cricket is not feasible for the foreseeable future, and I sincerely hope the administration takes the strong, courageous stand and puts the game out of international scale till this matter is firmly dealt with.
