Basically. i av an exam comin. and i need an essay type answer today.

Was Islam spread by the sword?

can u give me answers in bullet points .no paragraphs plz outlininng islamic and historical evidences.

and plz no arguments and debates. if you know the answer or just have one point to mention, then mention that otherwise thanx for taking intrest in this thread.

and no silly answers plz

and sticking to the point.

  • Islam is a religion of peace
  • It was spread by word of mouth and preaching by the Prophet (pbuh).
  • There were a few major battles fought during the Prophet's (pbuh) time but no women or children were ever harmed. They were fought solely on the battlefield not to spread Islam but to fight persecution.
  • The "Sword of Islam" was mainly used for protection not conversion, therefore to say that this is how Islam was spread would be incorrect.

Another take is that Islam was spread by the sword - the sword of dawah.

Dawah is invitation to Islam - where chiefs and leaders were sent messages sealed by the prophet Muhammad (SAW) himself and delivered to them in a beautiful way. Their acceptance was their whole lands acceptance.

Islam conquered not lands but the hearts of people, that is why it spread so quickly

The country with the largest Muslim population in the world Indonesia - not a single military convoy was sent there

The trade of Muslims and upright conduct was enough for people to accept

Spain had been ruled by Muslims and so was India; had Islam spread by sword then the Hindus and Christians of Spain could not be alive today, their existence proves that Muslims lived side by side with these people during the reign of Islam in those countries.

The Mogols were a force that destroyed the lands of the Muslims and no one dared fight them the Muslims lost to them, but Islam won them over ... today the majority of khans in the world are Muslim.

The wave of Islam in the West today is another testimony to the spread of Islam by the conquering of hearts.

The account of when Umar (RA) took over the city of Jerusalem and restored the temple mount and freed the Jews from being persecuted by the Christian Romans.

Could some one help me out .. on a question as to what are the ways the and what sources and material missionary used to spread Christianity even like today..? basically what ways ?

and how have these missionary spread their message ..like knowledge , building schools .. compiling and publishing of books , medicine ..etc ..?

how these ppl get medicine to muslim countries ?

how these ppl help the economy to boost economically ..?

what are the effects of this economic help by the christian missionary ..? good or bad .. list a few ..

how these ppl organize trips and tours and scouting ?
Treatment of the ill under the spervision of the church ?

what / how it effects that most of the employment of work is for the foreigners?

ways techniques of information? in terms of audiobility? ie radio.
ways of publishing ie books magazines and leaflets?

how and what benifit it brings that these ppl publish bibles and religious books in so many countries and free?
in what ways .. ?

WHAT ARE THE MOST DANGEROUS WAYS OF THEIRS THAT CAN EFFECT IN TERMS OF MEDIA IN THE WEST?

how is it that they have established schools and organisations to train ppl for communication , and journalism? and broadcassting eg. biggest christian channel is ''god tv''

their way of telling to love wealth?
how they provide misleading information and what they gain from it ?

what is the purpose of the ppl of the book ie christians to spread islam (in misleading ways) that is ...what ways and why> like enmity ...

what is the way that when you debate these ppl . how and what are the ways to do it.. like as the quraan says .. do it in a ahsan way .?

alot more issue i need to figure out .

depends on which time period u are asking about and which king/caliph
there is no easy answer to this one

bruv it it was this easy .. i wudnt be here in al azhar ..

well the topic is al tabshir wa al istishraq ..

time period is from the second year of hijrah of prophet SAW to 7th year .. then from 9th year till the modern day ..

thas why i asked in bullet points just to outline main main points ..of different eras ..

if can help .. thank u .. but i d appriciate more help on the later questions asked by myself ..
