Swine flu and its care

I just read it in cnn that world organization has raised its pandemic alert to its second-highest level level 5.What are the things we can do to avoid germs? Its scary :frowning:

Re: Swine flu and its care

You can protect yourself from swine flu the same way that you protect yourself from seasonal flu.

Avoid holding, kissing, shaking hands with people who have cold or flu like symptoms.
Wash your hands more often with soap and warm water.
Clean and sanitize things that are shared at the offices such as door knobs/phones/copier etc.
If you get flu like symptoms, stay home.
Stay 3-6 ft away from the person if you see them sneezing at the supermarket or other places.
Sneeze/Cough in your elbow or use tissue

Last but not least practice voluntary social distancing- Avoid going to gatherings especially if you live in an area with the outbreak.

Keep yourself updated with your town/city/ county/state swine flu updates!!

What are the symptoms?
The symptoms of swine influenza are similar to normal influenza (fever, cough, tiredness, muscle aches, sore throat, chills, shortness of breath, runny nose, headache). Some cases of swine influenza have also complained of vomiting and diarrhoea. In some cases, swine influenza can result in a severe pneumonia. Symptoms of influenza generally appear between two to four days after exposure.

Who is at risk? Currently, travellers exposed to cases of swine influenza overseas are at risk of becoming infected with the new swine influenza virus.
How is it prevented?

As the new swine influenza strain has only been identified recently, a human vaccine for swine influenza is not yet available. Existing vaccines for normal human influenza will probably not provide protection against swine influenza. Scientists worldwide are working to develop a suitable human vaccine against swine influenza A (H1N1), however a vaccine is not expected to become available in the near future.
Until a vaccine becomes available, the best method of prevention will be to ensure that everyone washes their hands regularly and thoroughly, steps away from others when they cough or sneeze, coughs or sneezes into tissues and stays away from people who are sick.

Re: Swine flu and its care

Re: Swine flu and its care

All Flu symptoms come from other animals

the common flu originated from Ducks in Germany in 1450's....over the course of hundreds of years....humans developed immunity to it.....

ititally it was very deadly as it killed hundreds of thousands of people in germany and other places when it was first originated

now we just wait it out and in 7 days its gone

well according to my info it spreads from pigs

Re: Swine flu and its care

^^ thats swine flu....i am talking about the common flu which everyone gets....

Re: Swine flu and its care

Basically here is how Swine Flu Started.........

A Bird who had bird flu dropped its feces inside a Pig Feeding Area

That Pig had Swine Flu and ate that Feed

Inside that Pig....Bird Flu combined with Swine Flu to create this new hybrid Swine Flu

That Swine Flu was then somehow transferred to a human who had the normal flu

Thats how it spread to humans

Its pretty nasty when you think about it
