How do we protect our skin and hair from chlorine and other pool chemicals if we swim in an indoor pool on a daily basis?
Does chlorine resistant clothing help protect the skin or is it just for longevity of the swimwear?

I swim daily, it does have an affect on the hair and have to use the swimming cap. I got a salted pool rather than chlorine though, only use chlorine occasionally to keep the algae away.
I think use a burqini even when swimming in women-only pools, that should protect you from top to bottom.
Water penetrates swimwear. Swimwear is not water proof.
I know but still its the best option besides taking thorough shower straight after the swim. You cannot swim with an astronaut suit on, everything else is permeable!
***Yes @LP I found that Castor Oil lightly applied to your hair and skin will protect from the harmful affects of chlorine! even ***coconut oil, and flaxseed oil.work also :k:
try it I think you will like it! ![]()
Castor oil is very thick. I think I’ll go with coconut oil.
JazakAllahKhair for the tip
**Yes it is thick, I use Hexane Free Castor Oil for hair growth! also this oil stays on the skin protecting from chlorine while you swim, I know they put coconut Oil in Sun Tan Lotion! is also kinda water repellent!
Ramadham and Eid was relaxing with Friends and Family! Thanks @LP**
Your dry skin and hair will soak up the chlorinated water, to keep this to a minimum, wet skin and hair thoroughly (with clean water) and apply a moisturizer just prior to going in. A swim cap is an option, although I'm not sure if it is water resistant. It's mentioned above everything is permeable. There is a brand of hair shampoos called Malibu. It makes great hair products for swimmers to protect against chlorine damage. This brand I have worked with and I would recommend. I'm sure there are many others on the market. As I'm typing this up, I googled skin protectants for swimmers, I see a lot of products marketed for pre and post chlorine contact. I've always used any lotion I've had on hand. Castor oil was mentioned above, I think its a great option and I'll give it a try next time I go for a swim. My skin and hair generally soak up coconut oil, so that's why I wouldn't think it would be the best option as it won't serve as a thick barrier against the pool water. But, anything is better than nothing.
You could do just breaststroke with hair above the water. Atleast it will save your hair from water.
