Swimming

There are contradictory articles on net regarding swimming and it helping with weight loss. So i dont know what to believe really but i personally think if one controls the urge to overeat, which one gets after swimming, then there is no way we wont loose weight. Because swimming does take effort so i am sure it burns off good enough calories and also its an overall body workout so that’s really good.

What are your thoughts? experience?

Re: Swimming

Swimming tires you and helps you tone up I think and definitely helps lose weight.

I'd drown in a sink

Re: Swimming

khali sink mai:omg:

Re: Swimming

Swimming is good for toning up, but compared to high intensity cardio, its nothing... Brisk swimming for 20 or so minutes can only burn around 150 calories. If you're looking for weight loss, stick to cardio on the treads/cross-trainers/elliptical. Eventually you'll get bored and you should mix and match.

Yah. I am gonna go for swimming 3-4 days a week and gym 6 days a week.

Re: Swimming

I love swimming for weight loss. I see the results when I swim versus spend the equal amount in the gym.

You won't lose drastic weight if you "wade in the water" but if you swim for at a medium/fast for about 25 minutes a day you'll see results in a week.

I also like how swimming effects your entire boday .. your arms, your legs, you stomach - it's a great total body workout.

But as your resistance builds up, you have to switch up your strokes and start going faster.

For any weight loss, once you hit a plateau then you switch up your exercises.

Re: Swimming

^ thanks.

Yes my weight loss has slowed up @ gym so i m looking for different options. I thorughly enjoy swimming so i am hoping it wl help me with weight loss and toning too. And i totally agree with you on having to increase your resistance after some time, it only makes sense. I am hoping swimming also helps tone up the ab area.
