Either its birthday celebration of new born baby, passed in exam or promoted to next level, marriage ceremony or engagment ceremony, achieved a goal or won the case, its eid festival or new year beginning or be whatsoever reason but distribution of ‘sweets (methai)’ is become a comman trend in our society. Question is why only sweets are distributed? How sweets become very common gift in our society?
^ tum sugar dene ka trend start karo na....sab ahista ahista follow karein ge.
bhayee aam si waja hai.
ek tou yeh ke meethi cheez khilana matlab khushi ko mana rahe hain. kabhi koi namkeen cheez nahi khilaye ga....kyon khushi main mithaas hoti hai tou us ki munasbat se cheez khilayi jaati hai.
agar kisi ne exams pass kiye hoon aur aap us ke ghar mithai ya chocs ki bajaye bbq etc le jaao tou amooman loag sochte hain ke "khushi ke mouqe pe mithayi/chocs ki jagga yeh kya cheez utha laya"....(exam pass karne ki khushi main bbq ki dawat do tou woh alag baat hai"
Eating sugar gives a person a chemical jolt of happiness. When we are young eating sweets is one major thing that makes us happy. I think the tradition is to just distribute something sweet to share and let people know that you're happy. So for us the something sweet is either mithai, cakes or something of that sort.
I really like this explanation for eating sweets I read:
Nature has developed an incentive system that rewards us for consuming foods containing high concentrations of energy (e.g., sweet fruits), because energy is crucial for survival. However, eating food with an unnaturally high sugar content (e.g., sweets) is an unnatural overstimulation of our reward system.
