sweat stains on clothes :(

Hi gals,

i tend to sweat under my arms alot. (doctor says that its partially anxiety related and partially normal). im not taking any anti-anxiety medications because im trying to get myself together through my prayers and my spirituality

anyway the problem is that all the sweating ruins my nice clothes and all clothes.i even sweat in freezing winter.
sometimes drycleaning ruins the clothes - colours get dull/run. yes its happened.
and i cant wear nice silks and chiffons or pretty much anything thats not more cotton based.

please how can i manage this problem of clothes getting ruined by sweat so i can dress up pretty too.

oh and anti-perspirants (even aluminium free ones) dont help. neither does not wearing anti-perspirants help :frowning: I tried drysol and that doesnt help much either.

thanks alot for any input.

Re: sweat stains on clothes :frowning:

i highly recommend ‘‘certain-dri’’ roll on. its THE ONLY…and i mean the only one that works for me. during my college years i had a huge problem too with sweat. i would even sweat if i was just sitting watching tv…or in class..meaning i didnt have to excercise or exert myself to sweat. i tried all of the deo’s and anti-perspirants out there, and certain dri is the only one that helped.

CertainDri® - Make certain you’re dry… with Certain Dri

I'm confused: are you asking for advice on treating the perspiration causing the stains, or the stains themselves?

For the perspiration, seek out a dermatologist for a shot of Botox to the underarms; I hear it works well.

As for the stains: wool and silk are especially susceptible to staining, with silk being more problematic for me than wool. For silk articles that come in contact with perspiration, I hand wash them immediately after wear with water and a bit of shampoo. The same advice could be applied to wool clothing (though I find wool more likely to smell than to stain). As for removing sweat stains on clothing, I hear hydrogen peroxide works well, but it I suspect the success depends on the material of the garment as well as its color.

Let me know if this helps.

Im certainly not a doctor...however....

my friends and i have discovered a way to not be sweaty under our arms...

this is our procedure and i tell everybody who even mentions this problem. because it works sooo well

first of all, u must scrub ur underarms thoroughly in the shower so as to remove any leftover antiperspirant u may have there. when the antiperspirant commercial says 'you can skip a day'...they mean it because the stuff is so strong. so scrub it well.

next, dry urself with towel but u may notice that underarms may still be damp - U must blowdry with a hairdryer to get it thoroughly dry!! ONLY then should u apply your antiperspirant. AGAIN blowdry so its completely dry before u put on your clothes.

if u don't have a real medical problem, this should do the trick. it works for everybody i know including me!

do try this and let me know how it works for u. thanks!

What kind of brush should you use: round or paddle?

Re: sweat stains on clothes :(

Why don't you use a roll on deodrant? If that doesn't work apply talcum powder ( under arms). Maybe you could go to see your GP? They might precribe you sthg strong. Also i've heard that "vanish" is good to remove clothes stains so maybe you could spray your clothes with them before putting them in the washing machine.
