PESHAWAR: Expressing satisfaction over the ongoing military operation in Swat, Buner and Dir Lower districts, members of the Swat Qaumi Jirga Sunday asked the government and security forces to take it to its logical conclusion.

“Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Sirajul Haq and Imran Khan should not score political points at the massacre of our children and destruction of our property,” said the Jirga members after its meeting at the provincial headquarters of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) here.

“We wish to convey our voice to participants of the government-sponsored All Parties Conference (APC), scheduled to be held today (Monday), not to pay heed to voices of some so-called political and religious elements who want an end to operation in Malakand division,” demanded the Swat Qaumi Jirga.

Besides others, the meeting was attended by Swat district Nazim Jamal Nasir, Nazim Batkhela Abdul Jabbar, Ayub Khan, Ziauddin Yousafzai and Provincial President of PkMAP Mukhtar Khan Yousafzai.

Briefing the journalists, Mukhtar Yousafzai flanked by rest of the Jirga members said Swat operation should continue till the militants lay down arms or be eliminated. **“The problem can’t be solved through talks as the government has already conceded much time and concessions. Now it is time to act,” said Yousafzai while voicing strong support for the military action. He said the religious or other parties asking for end to operation had two options: “Either they are supporting the terrorists or against them,” said Yousafzai, who also demanded of the provincial and central governments to charge the former commissioner Malakand division Muhammad Javed and Chief of Tanzim Nifaz Shariat-e-Muhammadi (TNSM) Sufi Muhammad for killing hundreds of people.

Nazim Swat Jamal Nasir, Nazim Batkhela Abdul Jabbar and Ziauddin Yousafzai said although they were satisfied with the pace of the operation, the people of Malakand division wanted elimination of the top Taliban leadership.

“The operation must be quick and targeted. The security forces will win hearts of the people by eliminating the high value targets in Swat,” they demanded. Some of the Jirga members complained that the Taliban FM radio was still operational creating doubts in minds of the people of Swat.

The Jirga members appealed the people to boycott the religious and political parties who were demanding suspension of the operation and asking for talks with the militants at this crucial time.

They also warned against some elements active in the camps for the internally displaced persons in the guise of welfare organisations. They asked the government to take action against such elements.

Even though generally I am Imran supporter, but on this issue I completely distance myself from him.
I think it is absolutely absured not to support the military operation against these animal mullahs. Imran should learn politics really. It annoys me to hear what he keeps repeating about the military operation over and over again.

Have to agree with Khehkeshan and Marasi (what a nick?) here

Imran is out of touch with reality when it comes to Taliban and other religious extremists

Re: Swat Qaumi Jirga tells Qazi Hussian and Imran Khan to stop scoring political poin

Imran definitely needs to learn a lesson, he is NOT winning any hearts or votes with his stupid policy unless talibans take over Pakistan.

Don't worry if he continue like that, he will be vanished from the politics very soon !

Re: Swat Qaumi Jirga tells Qazi Hussian and Imran Khan to stop scoring political poin

Swat Qaumi Jirga is wrong.
Imran Khan is not scoring any political points.
He is losing them.

what an idiot this IK is, incredible.
For once, support the government and its army.

He is a nobody...cant even win a single seat

Politics of principals is not merely a game of scoring political points or is it?, speaking for those poor innocent people who can't speak for themselves is not merely a game to lose political points. A philosophy of paranoia about Shariah and Islam is foreign and should not resonate with our political stand point, and finally my friend peace should not be confused with pacification as a remedy and antidote.

Re: Swat Qaumi Jirga tells Qazi Hussian and Imran Khan to stop scoring political poin

so now we are willing to accept jirga as the uniform represenation of swat? i thought we were going to get rid of tribal set up because of the threat of national sovereignty and what not? student association of swat opposed the operation, refugess flowing out also have given conflicting views so who is to say what?

No one is fighting against jarga system, what made you conclude this little gem? It's the taliban who has disregarded all pushtun customs of jirga. Most of the people in this group are elected, unlike the the groups you are mentioning.

Re: Swat Qaumi Jirga tells Qazi Hussian and Imran Khan to stop scoring political poin

^truly so prioir to taliban the women of these areas were having splendid rights awarded to them? education and progress was upto mark. get real. taliban appeared here for these areas had a soft corner for them, long neglected areas and tribal haven.

Lets say, Deir Aye Dursusst Aye ;)

Re: Swat Qaumi Jirga tells Qazi Hussian and Imran Khan to stop scoring political poin

^khisko i was never pro women oppression or tribal mentality.

Women nearly all over pakistan are treated like cattle, and the education system has been in the gutter for an equal amount of time. The taliban buddus are trying to bring it to an even worse level through the use of violence. Of course these areas had a soft corner for taliban, as they had been told by successive governments in islamabad that mujahideen and jihad are the duty of all tribals. This government policy is what parties like MQM have been fighting against since the 80's when we were called traitors and worse (still are).

Re: Swat Qaumi Jirga tells Qazi Hussian and Imran Khan to stop scoring political poin

no and no. tribal set up has always meant that these areas were pretty much away from the consittuion of pakistan. women of lahore amd women of these areas a very different, literacy rate would also be different, getting rid of taliban and continuing with tribal set up is self defeating action. dont bring mqm into it when you have trouble putting a coherent sentence against their racial out bursts. pakistan would be free of terror if mqm met the same fate as taliban.

There is no philosophy of paranoia about Sharia and Islam. The muslims of Pakistan, even if they are not well-read about their own religion, are not that stupid to buy into ideas such as bombing girls' schools, forcefully marrying girls to Taliban militants, a military-style religious brainwashing trend, or the act of setting up your own country within a muslim country, or hiding behind innocent humans as your shield, or beheadings of anyone that doesn't agree with you. These are all unIslamic concepts from the time of Jahalliyat. To support the Taliban is to support the Kuffar, really, when it boils right down to it.

And how long have you been alive - have you or anyone you know done anything for these people when Swat was a place any Pakistani could walk in freely and safely?

FYI, Swat had lots of NGO's working in it - the number of schools and colleges for the poor was growing, and the medical care was actually improving with the work of Pakistani medics.

I don't see how the bombardment of the place by militants when they rolled in with their tanks helped any.

Re: Swat Qaumi Jirga tells Qazi Hussian and Imran Khan to stop scoring political poin

^ yes and are you saying we should stick with jirga system to advance that progress?mostly you waste my time, today i am a bit busy.
