musharraf and his regime is history now, so whatever they did was then, you cant go and redo stuff, drag them to court, charge em whatever but that does not change anything that is happening today.
you can only adjust course now.
Maulana aziz and company btw are not history, they are here today so they need to eb tackled.
its laughable to think that the students were not extremists, their actions in islamabad, the resistance against SSG was proof enough, and he really quick retaliatory suicide bombing proved that these guys were not as seedhay saadhay as maulana would say
maulana is as much history as musharraf is. He is not running the tahreek in swat is he? he was in jail. so if bygones are to be bygones this shoud be the end of matter for him as well.
it is laughable to think that our govt is right now doing as much to secure the position (probably as much as our govt was doing in lal masjid scenario). Talibans are carrying out all these acts under the banner of demanding shariat,( by the way same desire was also legally and democratically expressed by these regions earlier on). you want to do damage control and save the day, establish what they want, you cannot deny it as a muslim coutnry anyway. collaborate with your own mehqma awfaq and your muft e azam to deal with the issue. if taliban still stone wall you atleast you will have the ulemas vote per your side to stop further rechargin of the issue how many of these steps has there recent gov taken? if nothing , these action will allow for trasparency that might gain the govt some credibility.
