Hey guys, I’m just wondering, all designers claim they use swarovski crystals in their kaam but how can that be? I mean if you go to a swarovski show even the smallest of the figurines cost like a few hundred dollars and they sparkle like crazy. Sure paki dresses sparkle but they don’t throw off the rainbow colours like the figurines.
Is there different qualities of swarovski? Were the crystals used in paki kaam orginally mistakenly called swarovski and now the name has just stuck?
On another note, why can’t designers say SEQUINS, they always call them sequence, i don’t know why!!! even in their descriptions they write sequence! it drives me insane!!
LOL @ sequences! That's so true! Nahin I don't think everyone uses swarovski..but Faiza Samee, Nilofer and Bunto do..they showed me different colors and the boxes had swarovski written on them..Maria B also uses them.
swarovski crystals used for embellishment are something different. i’m sure you have seen regular crystals in jewellery and on clothes, swarovski’s are much better quality and you can (usually) immediately tell the difference.

they are not hideously expensive but if you were buying a wedding dress that was covered in loads of them it would bump up the price quite a bit.
everyone uses them these days.. even the place i'm having my stuff made and it's not designer. and if they weren't using them and were using some cheaper ones, i would buy the crystals and give them to the them myself!
Even in shops in Dubai u can purchase a box of swarovski crystals that u can "iron" onto u're clothes.. they come in such pretty colors and sizes! I love the aquamarine ones!
i dunno if you wear havaiana flip flops in the summer over there Gina but everyone here does (UK). i covered the straps in swarovski crystals on a few pairs for myself and my friends. my favs were the ones i made for my best friend with blue zircon crystals (mid blue-green colour). she wore them all summer in egypt!
yup, Swarovski's are not pricey- you can definitely purchase them wholesale at excellent prices, at least in toronto. they go by size- the bigger the crystal, the more it costs. but the most nafees kaam usually calls for smaller, delicate crystals, and not the giant, tacky looking ones.
the smoky grey ones and the olive green ones are gorgeous too.

i asked the salesman if they have also Dolce&Gabbana watches...and he said... "no we have just D&G"....and i was looking like EEEEEEEHM ok...waaaaaaaaatever...
