**The man jailed for visiting Burma’s detained pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has returned home to the US.**John Yettaw arrived in Chicago from Bangkok, where he had been treated in hospital after being deported from Burma on Sunday.
Burmese authorities released him from a seven-year prison sentence under a deal struck by visiting US Senator Jim Webb.
Ms Suu Kyi had her house arrest extended by 18 months as a result of Mr Yettaw’s visit in May.
She was charged with breaking the terms of her house arrest by sheltering Mr Yettaw, who swam uninvited to her house using a pair of homemade flippers.
Mr Yettaw, a Mormon, said he had been sent by God to deliver a warning to Ms Suu Kyi that she would be assassinated.
He arrived in Chicago on Wednesday wearing a surgical mask to guard against infection. His health has been described as fragile.
Mr Yettaw, from Falcon, Missouri, was catching a connecting flight to his final destination of Springfield in his home state.
