LUDHIANA: A suspected case of kidnapping finally turned out to be a case of bunking classes, leaving parents and police perplexed on Monday
morning.
The incident occurred when during checks at one of the check-posts, SHO Model Town Sandeep Wadhera, who was himself standing there, stopped a white-coloured Swift Desire car with tinted glasses around 11.30 am near a railway crossing close to Ishmeet chowk.
In this car that was being driven by two boys, police found a school bag on the rear seat. Getting suspicious, police checked the bag. Cops were shocked to find the school uniform including shoes of a girl in the bag.
From the identity card of the girl that was lying in the car, police traced her identity. The girl was found out to be a student of 10+1 of a private school in Sector-32. Following this, police personnel then called up the school. It was confirmed that the girl was not there and her parents were called up.
The confused father immediately termed it a kidnap. Alleging that his daughter had been kidnapped, he informed police that he was coming to the spot to check the bag and other belongings of his daughter.
Meanwhile, police personnel were informed by the two boys in the car that the girl was not kidnapped and that she was watching a movie with her boyfriend who was their friend. Thus, the mystery was solved and the father of the girl was told all about it. It was revealed that the younger brother of the girl who also studies in the same school was accompanying her.
“When I first saw the school bag and identity card, I thought that maybe the girl had got down from the car seeing the cops manning the check-post. I also thought she might have thought of getting into the car again once she crossed the check-post. However, things turned to be absolutely otherwise. Informing about the right situation to the family was our duty and we did the same,” Wadhera said.
