Actress Sushmita Sen is planning to catch her daughter on candid cam. Renee, 3, stars in film that the former Miss Universe expects will take 18 years to make.
Despite the marked absence of any male actors, the film should be quite a thriller for Renee when she grows up, insists Sush. The model mum is certainly leaving nothing to chance. She reportedly bought a Handycam for Rs. 1.5 lakhs to capture special moments with her daughter and will gift the final edited version to Renee once she reaches college-going age.
According to Sen: “A childhood preserved for posterity is the most precious gift a mother can give to her daughter. Normally parents keep photographs of various occasions but I have gone a step further. I started making this film on my baby Renee the first day she went to school. I shoot everything she does - even if she yawns, I capture it. It is all so fascinating - the way she talks, the way she greets visitors and the way she tries to catch my attention. She’s too young to understand any of that but I am sure she will appreciate it once she becomes older.”
There’s nothing furtive about her filmmaking, says Sush. “If Renee ever wants to know, I will certainly tell her. I am sure whatever she does today is going to delight her tomorrow when see sees it on film. However there will be lots to embarrass her too because she’s quite mischievous,” quips the Bengali beauty.
Sushmita, who won a legal battle to be declared legal parent of her adopted child, is not sure if she wants Renee to enter Bollywood. “It’s too early to start thinking. Everything depends on what Renee herself wants when she grows up. Of course if she chooses to become an actress, I will do whatever I can to help her. In fact the film I am making should also be useful. The day Renee realises she’s on camera, she’s likely to stop being natural and start playing to the gallery. That should do wonders for her acting skills,” says Sen.
