Some environments can be very politically charged , it can prove to be a cut throat kind of competition, how do you survive in such work environments . Not only survive but thrive?

I think the more you grow into executive level, the more political it becomes, unfortunately though. There are two very different approaches people adopt. One is the negative politics to make sure they survive but its normally short-lived as there will be something thats gonna fire back.
Second is showing that you are technically too sound and hence acting on the principle 'survival of the fittest', you become indispensable for the organization.
