Survival after A Heart Attack

So, I’m reading up on some literature on the liklihood of survival. I dont have much time to go thru it all, of course, but I’m mainly concerned as to typically how long can one survive death after having one heart attack?

I know a lot of it depends on your lifestyle after a heart attack.

But I’m wanting to hear personal stories - stories of hope AND distress.

Re: Survival after A Heart Attack

My dad had a heart attack last year. Alhumdulillah he was such an active sportsman that he had a strong enough heart that after the heart attack, he went to sleep, woke up the next morning, went to his office, worked 9 hours, then drove to the hospital to check himself in.

The doctors were amazed at him, saying that they'd only ever seen patients come in on stretchers after coming in from a heart attack like he had (there was over a 90% blockage remaining in him). Unfortunately, some of his heart muscle died because he delayed so long before seeking treatment. Again, however, his strong heart meant that his heart continued to work at almost the same capacity as before (after spending weeks doing gentle exercises to build up the muscles there some more).

After getting the blockage cleared out my dad is practically as good as new and is as physically active as before - alhumdulillah. He's just more careful about eating fatty foods.

Okay, so after a heart attack and surgery, one can still go back later when stable and get the vessels cleared?

Re: Survival after A Heart Attack

Why not ! Indeed one can live quite a normal life after surgery.
