Dear Gupshup members:
I would like to invite you to complete an online survey to help me in my doctoral research project on user participation in virtual communities. I am a Ph.D. student at the DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University, and am currently in the process of collecting data for my dissertation research.
Specifically, I am requesting your participation in a web survey that will take about 20 minutes of your time. The survey consists of general questions related to user online experiences within their own virtual communities.
Please note that the survey will not elicit any personally identifiable information. Furthermore, the responses from the survey will be kept confidential. They will not be released back to Gupshup or any third party. Lastly, the data and findings from the survey will be released in aggregate form only.
I am hoping that the results of my study will identify the factors that affect user participation in virtual communities. Such insights will lead to the improvement of various virtual community offerings on the Internet.

Just a couple of things I wanted to say/clarify regarding the survey:
1- I see that some people are starting the survey and not going until the end… and I just wanted to reassure you that the survey will only take 15 to 20 mins of your time… so please consider completing it… please… it’s your complete and honest responses that will help me in my research.
2- Secondly, I wanted to reiterate that this survey is solely for my doctoral research. The survey is NOT sponsored by GS and the results will not be released to the site administrators here. The data will only be used as part of my research project… and towards this, I’m also conducting the exact same survey on various other community websites as well (where I’m not a regular member).

Bhaijaan… inhe psychometrics mey reflective indicators kehte heiN… the idea is that there are subtle differences in the various survey items and most of them reflect your perceptions of a higher level concept… so the more the correlations between the items, the more stronger your perceptions are for that concept.

the ethics protocol stipulates that summarized aggregated results can be made available to participants upon request... so yeah if anyone's interested, they can request to see the overall results... but like I said before, these results will be across a multitude of sites and not just GS.
